Progress - about $500 in October!
Much to my astonishment, my blog was working overtime while I was snoozing. Adsense started picking up, and the commissions started coming in. So I picked up the publishing pace in October, engaged in more comment trades, and I'm shocked to see from all sources I made almost $500.
About $140 from adsense, $280 from amazon (US and UK and Canada combined), $8 from shareasale, and $40 from another product.
If this multiplies even by two, it will be a considerable addition to my income. By three, and I can pay the rent with it. By ten, and I can quit my job, or at least live high on the hog!

Wow! This is amazing to see, great job in Oct for hustling! Your site must be getting great traffic earning that much in Adsense, do you put it in every post or just one main spot?

Thanks! I'm getting good traffic, and my site is borderline ugly with ads. I have two in the sidebar and one that appears above the heading, and at least one below. There isn't a limit on how many ads you can have now (used to be 3 per page, I think). I could add more but I think that would take away from affiliate commissions.
Wow, your traffic is amazing!! 90% organic?! I'm at 76% so I guess I have some ways to go. How old is our site?
That's what I struggle with too, how many to put, I only put one on my side bar... and I only put it in posts that don't have affiliate sales... gosh, maybe I'm missing out! LOL
I started this site in March of this year. I feel extremely lucky that some of my keywords ranked so fast. I definitely have slid away from some of the good advice about keeping your site neat/clean and not too salesy. I might be too greedy, but it seems to be still working. If I see a sharp decline in traffic I'll have to prune out some of the affiliate stuff for sure.
