Changes I've noticed and a bit of a question.

Greetings all, Really getting into the training this time around. Much more focused and motivated. But that's not why I'm blogging. When I was here a few years ago I remember no live chat. That is definately a bonus!. But at the time there were forums that were quite active. The discussions and blogs are similar, though not quite what I was used to. Back in those days (not olden days, just a few years ago) people seemed to never give out their websites or niche ideas. They seemed paranoid that someone would steal them and take a piece of their pie. Now I'm seeing the training actually ask you to post your site for comment. I find that refreshing. One question I have is this...Is there a place where the people that have become successful and make great sites are posting theirs for us newbies to get inspiration and learn from? Just curious about the change in attitude I'm seeing here - and it's a good change.

I can understand why many members choose not to share their sites. As Rich says- that can lead to being bombarded with more requests for help and that at times can be difficult.

It's also sad to say that their can be a very thin line between taking inspiration from looking at others and producing your own content and actually stealing ideas. It happens more than people think, particularly if they're promoting similar topics.

I'm glad that you're enjoying being back. Yes it has changed a lot.

I think a lot of it comes down to trust and common sense. By following the training many of us have our websites where we want them regarding visibility on the search engines, but after that, "ability" and common sense kick in. Creating content to please search engines is a skill that not everyone can immediately master. But there is a lot of help here.

Selling ten books a month at 5% commission is a success, but not a lucrative one; selling ten cameras at 10% commission is a different story. We have success stories, but how do we gauge the success? Number of buyers or turnover in cash terms? Can we believe the poster, knowing that some people are inveterate glory-seekers.

I've spoken to a number people over the last few weeks who complain of a lack of forward motion, to remind them that the training works absolutely if followed. By and large they hadn't followed it.

There is one other point which Rich makes well - we want to distance ourselves from the Ferraris and yachts and operate at a more realistic level. The bigger the success claim, the more likely I am to disbelieve it.

Well said!

@Rich - Thank you so much for your reply. And I agree that posts that talk about someone's Coach or Yaught being featured in the Robb Report because of WA might be something that will turn some people off. I think I'd still like to see some of the people that have actually worked this program to success post some encouraging words more often. Hearing that someone has met or exceeded their goals and have become more financially independant or that they have more time for their families because they no longer punch the time clock would be a powerful motivator here. I know it would motivate me. ;))

I do understand, and I myself enjoy the milestone blogs, first $1, first $1,000 etc. and some Members do blog these, ie. https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/james-doro/blog/finally-963-last-5-weeks There's also some "historical" success stories here: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/veronica-l/blog/are-there-any-successful-people-on-wa I also think there might be something of an aversion to blogging about this topic from "successful" Members, simply because of the fear of being inundated with requests for "help" or "mentoring". I know from my own experience that I average 100+ messages a day back-and-forth from just within the WA community alone. :) Rich.

I think this discussion goes both ways. The new people who want to hear from those that have a successful business and those that have a successful business being asked a lot about how they got there. It is only human nature to what to know about things.

My questions to @Rich is according to what is read about going to Vegas is that we can sit down with the likes of those who have succeeded. What is the point? To get to Vegas, you have to have a pretty good business up and running. Besides what works for one business may not work for another.

I myself have been somewhat burned by some comments on here so I think it is best to keep quite and just plug away with the training. I think from a new person's perspective there is a lot of information being given in discussions each day to hopefully answer their questions. If not, then post a question. Debbie

Hey Debbie. I'm afraid that I can't answer about Las Vegas. I don't affiliate WA so it doesn't apply to me. I think it's easy to forget that this is true for a lot of those who "help out" here, many of us do not refer people to WA although there are some notable exceptions. Hey, to be blunt, I'm a paying Member, my time is my own, I don't have any responsibility, financially or "morally" to share, train, blog, discuss, or assist anyone else unless I wish to do so. :) Rich.

@Rich, thank you for the response.

I agree with Rich there are reasons why some websites are not being displayed at WA that doesn`t mean that there are not success stories...

I checked top 10 posts just a minute ago and post number 2 is a success story " I did it" these are not uncommon here at WA at all.

Kyle is working on a site that everybody can follow http://waystoavoidscamsonline.com/

Another place to look for great sites are the search engines, check your own niche who ever is the authority site in your specific niche has had a few successes.

Nobody is "hiding" sites they are out there.

Veronica

Its interesting that you should say that. I'm only here since Aug. But it nice to here how things have progressed. That's what's great here. Welcome back. Judy

WA has changed massively in just the 18 months I've been here. I was in full time employment when I joined, so privacy and anonymity were essential as many employers, mine included, keep tabs on their employees online presence. The open door policy has also made some reluctant to share their established earning sites, as in the past there's been a couple of incidents of theft of content, ie. custom graphics, etc. even recently by a long-term Member who should know a lot better! I personally have never been a fan of "success" stories, every scam is awash with them, usually with pics. of yachts, flash cars and Costa Rican mansions. It's why I've never blogged my own, even though I'm immensely grateful to K&C and the community for helping me build my own full-time online business. It's also a question of "success" being different for everyone, for me it was the freedom to work a few hours a day when and where I want. I've also realised that Members are here for a multitude of different reasons, from simply learning to build websites, create their own businesses or for some it's just a social "hobby" where being in a community is the most important aspect for them rather than the more obvious "learn to earn". :) Rich.

Of course that's the other side of the coin.

I've noticed some of the old timers do not share their sites or much of anything else.

Agreed. I don't see much in the way of success stories to inspire us. Mostly other new members learning as we go and mostly helping each other in blogs and chat. (With the exception of Kyle who I've seen in Chat a few times helping out)
