Learning Experience
We've all had those experiences where the very unfortunate happens, you have to do a ton of work to fix it, and you learn a lot in the end. I had one of those recently. I installed a plugin on my website last night. It said it was supposed to optomize it for mobile viewing. It did, in fact change the theme to a mobile one. In the process it also deleted the desktop theme, denied me access to my dashboard preventing any further editing, and worst of all, I tried to open it on my iPhone, and it said the page could not be displayed.,,
It would have been nice to just change the theme, but I was using a siterubix sub-domain, so I didnt have any access to the FTP. I also had not backed it up since I started 5 days ago. So, I had no decision but to suck it up, and delete my first website... but, I am a winner, and WINNERS ALWAYS FIND A WAY!
Before I deleted it, I bought a new domain. It took a couple hours to transfer it to the WAhosting, so I used that time to write a StreetArticle, and another post for my website. After it transfered I took all my old pages, and basically copied them onto my new website, and I changed all my affiliate links to pretty links. I still have a few bugs to work out, and I need to get it indexed again, but I feel so much better about my website now! It looks more user-friendly, and the domain is better. I can also apply for AdWords now!
So, to any new people who may be reading this. I want to share these very important lessons I learned with you.
-BACK UP YOUR WORDPRESS SITE! I never expected that to happen to mine, but it did.
-Do NOT install plugins without researching them first.
Here's a quote from @Rich explaining this to me, "WordPress is *opensource*, anyone can develop for it and not everything is fit-for-purpose nor safe."
Thank you for reading and God Bless!
Austin

Congratulations on being a WINNER Austin and great learnings. I am quite sure that there are frantic backing up of sites as I type this - thanks :)
lol I'm glad I can help people before the same thing happens to them. I had no idea what I was going to do when I lost all admin access to my site. It turned out much better than I was expecting, though!
Austin, Great advice from a terrible experience. Thank you for allowing us to learn from your catastrophe! I do need to back up my work before I go further! Good to see you are making real progress.
Thanks, Dan! I just subscribed to your newsletter at DanCrouch.org. I look forward to reading your updates :)
