If I write a post under my profile as opposed to on my website does it only appear under my profile for other WA readers to see and does it help with ranking. Any clarification

I heard blog post are supposed to help with ranking. If you're talking about within WA, all your constant involvement and activity will help your ranking status go down (which is a good thing).
If you're talking about thru Google, in regards to your site, you want your ranking to go up!
Thanks for that RJ. I think I have it, if I post within WA it helps me there but will make no difference on my website unless I actually go and re post it there , is that it?

When i decide on the keyword that I want use. Do I have to save it to my website or anything or do I simply choose my keyword from say ,jaaxy, and then use it in my content?
You can use your keword in your actual domain which can help with rankings, but mainly you just need to write content that focuses on the many keywords that your site will utilize.
It is good to have evidence about targeted keywords so you may save it. But do not use the same keyword in any other post.

Once you have identified your keyword you can choose to save it for using later or you can go ahead and write a page/post using this keyword in the title and the first paragraph
