Steve A; has just sent a nice blog thank us veterans on memorial day, for our service.

As a Vietnam veteran, I have to omit, at that time of my life--- I joined the service, before I was drafted. Hey! I joined the Air Force, I get sea sick, so the navy was out. The Army and the Marines, well god knows I could not picture my self in a fox hole, in the rain and cold for 24/7,but know what I know now, " God Bless them, there the heroes to me. they sacrificed more than I ever did."

As Steve has mention he thanks us veterans for the freedom we have today. In the time of the Vietnam war we taught and told we were fighting for freedom. Well to be honest with you, I didn't know what this thing called freedom was, I was young and I joined to get out of the draft, didn't want to get arrested,( I was a chicken shit.)

Once I arrived overseas, I did not have the time to think, who, what, when, were, and why we were fighting for. However, after seven months and the opinions of the majority, of the people I talked to, we had no idea what we were fighting for. Coming home from overseas, at that time and era, believe me no one was there to welcome us home with open arms.

As I look back now fifty+ years ago, we all left something behind. It could have been a part of are youth, apart from our innocents of the world, or a fallen brother never to see again.

Today fifty years later I do understand the freedom Steve is thank us for, but fifty years ago I did have freedom. I had a choice to join the service, or be drafted. For me to look back and be thank full for the freedom I have, I have to give thanks to those who have come before us, these were the men, women, and children who formed a new nation. The ones before us, who fought a civil war that divided a nation, the ones who fought two world wars, and the ones who are still fighting today.

So Steve, when you thank me for my service! I t was my pleasure and honor to server you and every other American.

Today being Memorial day and you Steve, you publicly thank us veterans for our service, you will never know how much those two words mean:

I wish I would have heard them coming home.

Stay the course thank you.

We all thank you for your service I am just sorry that you all went through a terrible thing back then. My husband had served in the Maries and Air Force for twenty-five years so I know the sacrifices that were made. He was post-Vietnam so he understands what you all went through. All of our freedom comes from all of the service men and women.
