Do articles need to be a certain length?

My niche is pretty complicated and I'm gearing my site as the kind of site that makes the complex understandable. But in breaking down some of this material into "bite size" material for folks my articles tend to be short (a short paragraph or maybe two) but cover what I say it covers in the title.

For google's purposes do I need more or is length unimportant as long as its relevant to the keywords I use?

Thanks for the response. Mark, I agree with you, write for a person not google. I was curious if there was a "minimum length", and I'm of the mind that there isn't. I looked at something old I've written that's still on google that I forgot was there, and it's still there. #2 on the first page of search results for the keyword term. Answered my own question I guess!

Stick to small paragraphs and be specific.

Hi Earl.

The advice in the training here is write for your visitors - not the search engines. So don't try and keep writing just so you hit 2000 words or whatever some SEO tool may advise you. If you do that, your visitors will spot the "extra" content or padding - and be put off. If on the other hand, you need to write 10000 words - break it down into small paragraphs (a few lines each is what Kyle recommends in some of his training). Although by your description, shorter is probably where you will be going.

Write about whatever your keyword is - and if that only takes a couple of paragraphs, then that's all you should write.

Your visitors will be more engaged, and their visits will reflect somewhat in your rankings in the search engines.

I hope that helps?

All the best, Mark

I am glad you asked this, in have been wondering the same thing. Look forward to responses.

We recommend at least 400 words on articles that you want to get indexed....
