Well, yes, membership sites CAN be a huge income earner when done correctly, but I wanna warn you that it's an advanced thing. You have to launch them correctly and have valuable content, products or perhaps services for your members. Think about what you will provide them that other memberships can't. This can all be done within WordPress, whereas you lock down certain areas where only members have access. Also, you'll need to determine you payment gateway. Many membership plugins have payment gateways for places like Paypal, and other merchants. This, obviously, will lend itself to periodic updates and maintenance. A Helpdesk function is quite advisable.
