My Online Journey so far: 2004 to 2015

Hi, it is cold winter evening here at my place, Kolkata, India. Only 4 more days to go and we will welcome a new year... another year passed by a whisker.. Now, at these moments of the year, I always feel a bit nostalgic about everything happened in past. So, just planning to pen down something about myself..

In my college days, I used internet mainly for education and communication purpose as well as for browsing several websites in my free time. The arena of WWW always amazed me since I started knowing it.... using it.... exploring it as much as I could. I always liked the idea of working online and earning for my work. I was searching for some stable ways to earn online to be an independent worker in true sense. I was really fascinated by the fact that I could start my own business in the virtual world. Somehow, I came to know about 3 freelancing websites in the year 2004. Immediately, I signed up with two of these sites, and started bidding on several projects that matched my skill set at that time. To my utter surprise, I won some of these projects quite easily and started working very soon. With in 6 months, I was a stable earner from these two freelancing websites. They made me so engaged and satisfied , I had no qualm to say good bye to my regular job of a "Network Engineer", which was earning me a decent amount every month.But, I always wanted to do something on my own and be my own BOSS. Now, that two websites made my dream true up to certain extend. I was really excited and motivated to carry on working with them. I should mention their names individually on this post. Thanks to Scriptlance and freelancer.Later, I have worked in several similar sites with great success, but these two have opened the door of online earning for me.There is no looking back since then.

Long story short, I have worked in thousands of projects in areas like web developement , web content development, web marketing and Search Engine Optimization. I had the opportunity to work with clients around the globe. I have been able to start my own office. I had a technical back ground. But I learnt lots of new things in between about the Internet, about web related stuffs, about online business and its related aspects.Hence, it has been a rewarding experience working online.

While working with projects for my clients in various filed related to web engineering, I started thinking to begin my own venture in the world of Internet Marketing. The fact is, I was always in research mode in my free browsing time for last 7-8 years.Internet Marketing was really a passionate topic for me. I have seen it to be growing big.. bigger....

I have worked in lots of web marketing projects for my clients and liked the very concept of being an "Internet Marketer". Things happening are not bad here but the constant pressure of working multiple projects with strict deadlines has its adverse effects too. I am earning a good amount, but want to get some breather in between.

So, I realized few years back, only working for my clients should not be the only criteria while working online for whole life. I should start doing something on my own simultaneously. It really made sense.

I found out wealthy affiliate in the year 2007, and often browsed the site and subscribed to the list too. But, I was not yet ready to take the plunge and so did not join. In the year 2012, WA was giving a great opportunity to check their open education project and I became a member of Wealthy Affiliate... but again I could not continue due to other work load and issues in life.

Now, as I am growing older day by day, I think it to be the ultimate time to join here and try to create something of my own that would help me for a long lasting period. I am only 35+ but you know continuous client work, deadline has really taken toll on myself, as I am from India, I need to be online up to 4 AM almost 10-15 days a month to talk to my client residing overseas, and as it has become a habit even when I have less work load and no client to chat on Skype!!

I want to change all these things in near future and it is possible If I can make something of real VALUE in the web like some extraordinary people have already made. So, I feel it is the high time to upgrade to premium and try to create something for my own.

So, I am learning and discovering several things related to Internet Marketing here on WA ..... the journey will be continued..........
