Failure or Success?
I have very recently faced a major turnaround in my life. The company where I started with high hopes just less than six months ago proved to be a disastrous choice for number of reasons and eventually it was this company who decided to terminate my employment before it got even really started. Shocked? For sure. Although I was actively looking for a new job and a way out off this company since first few weeks when I realised that things are not going to work as I was expecting, this situation came as a total surprise to me.
Failure or success? Well, that is not so easy to answer any more. Of course, admit it or not, it hurts anyone to be abandoned and people telling you that you were not able to meet the expectations, whether that is the truth or not. On the other hand, being forced our of the rat-race, at least for a while, is it really such a bad thing to happen if you can survive financially for couple of months? Having an opportunity for the first time to pick up your kids from the school, help them with their homework and spend some quality time with loved ones in the evenings. No longer need to check emails obsessively that are constantly blinking to your iPhone, even during weekends and holidays. So which one prevails, is it finally all that bad if you count all aspects?
The truth is, there are number of reasons I should celebrate and be thankful to this company about their decision. It is fully up to me to decide how I take this new situation; should I be shamed of being unemployed and feel low self-esteem, or take this as a new opportunity to lear new skills, relax and finally stop to think about the direction I should next take in my life.
The reason I joined WA is that I finally have now time to consider other ways to pay the mortgage than working 80 hour weeks. Time will tell if this is ultimately a failure or success, but that is only dependent on me this time. I will keep you posted on my next turns.
Cheers,
Janne

Awesome Janne,
I vote success and your positive attitude is just what you need to turn this into a Blessing.
Quality time with Family is so very important and with that being said I believe that we should work with so much focus when we can't be with Family ie. when they are at School, work etc.... and Focus entirely on them leaving work when they are available.
Thank you for this post Janne, I am sure that it will inspire and help many Friends that are going thru the same type of situation,
Tony
