Hello Sonja, I'm not not at all an expert, and like you I'm searching my way around...even though we are supposed to follow the lessons sometimes there is so much information & activity at WA that you can easily become distracted and before you know it, on a different path to the lesson you were doing 3 hours ago! Well, that is my experience anyway...keeping focus is my biggest goal. Moving forward, and in attempt to answer your question; I think you, as DIGGER12 says you go to Dashboard, select 'Appearance' and go down to 'Header' - here you can select your own image to upload. Well that is the case for the particular theme I have used for my website, http://somethingalittledifferent.siterubix.com

Nice site! I know it is something very simple I am missing. I am a Newbie to WP but not to websites. As soon as I figure it out I will let everyone know. I appreciate everyone input!
Sorry I am not familiar with this theme, did you go to Appearance, and then " options" down near the bottom of the drop down menu? or "Customize"?
The theme I used was "Twenty Fourteen" and on the dashboard, I select Appearance, which then gives you a sub menu containing several options...select "header". Here is a screen shot, just copy this link into your address bar to see the screen shot;

Yes. On mine instead of saying options, it says WP Opulus Theme Option. Then it takes me to a page that say, Nimbus Panel and prompts me to setup my theme which will upload demo pages. I also have an option to join their membership site.
@LA: Mine do not have the Header option. Thanks for the screen shot. I think that WP Opulus Theme Option replaces the Header option.

Okay guys I figured how to change the image. I had to upload demo pages which unlocked other features. Now I need to find a nifty photo as my new image lol! Thanks once again everyone!
