Network comes from the word "net" which - when you picture it, is exactly what network connections are. When you look at any net - a whispy hairnet to a massive fishnet, each small piece is connected to another which connects to another, to make a final large item that is strong.
When we actively "network" we connect to others who connect to others and so on. We end up with a strong group of like-minded people who are able to help one another. Does this make sense?
Thanks Patti. Different responses. Same meanings. My wife is an awesome cook. Not afraid to try new recipes. Been trying to get her to start a site. Says she is happy making things not talking about them. Passed your great cooking ideas site on to her.

I like that answer and you do indeed practice it. I know your site begin at zero is a WA affiliate site. Are you networking with others here at Wa that are not in your same niche?
Yeah I just recently started doing that. When I started here I kind of kept with the people in the same niche as me. Now I'm trying to branch out more to others. :)
That is an interesting question. My take on the question what is networking comes mostly from a business perspective. It can be done socially and in other settings. I would describe it as a process of creating relationships for some mutually beneficial purpose at some undefined time in the future. For example, in my profession as a CPA I might attend seminars of various events where bankers, Insurance brokers, lawyers, and other similar types might be in attendance. I would mingle and introduce myself and swap business cards. You make mental notes to youself about the people you meet. You might not be in the market for anything they are selling; but a buddy of yours tomorrow at lunch might ask you...hey do you know anyone who sells Title Insurance? Voila! You just met a guy last week and you liked him so you "network" the two of them together. That's how it has played out for me

I have when I have had an opportunity; have connected some folks with similar interests. I have not had any requests to exchange links. My niche is different I guess.
Different niches are ok. For ex. Do you have a Dog? Sandra has a website about dogs. Sandra has friends that play golf. Exchange banners.
IMO, networking is reaching out to other people, earning their trust by building a relationship and ultimately, being able to reach THEIR network, thus giving you a larger audience for your blogs and affiliate programs!

To me, networking is helping others spread it around and they, in turn, help you get your work out there. For instance, I work with a group of article writers. We have this group we post our articles in. They share mine. I share theirs. We get more exposure that way. I work with others or "network," every chance I get.
Good answer Carla. Now, forget you are an Ambassador and you have given advice and encouragement to many, myself included. Do you network with others here at WA as you do with article writers?
Yes, I do. I don't see what being an ambassador has to do with it, though. I talk to people in PMs throughout the day and help them and they help me or we talk things we might do together. Sharing ideas is always good.

We are all networking here at WA by writing blogs, asking and answering questions and "liking" comments, questions and blogs that we like. Community involvement is what networking here is all about. ~Marion
