Nobody Likes a Quitter

I have been in the military for 23 years. In March, I moved on from my job supervising a Military Working Dog (MWD) kennel. I wasn't born to supervise but I liked being around the dogs so I stayed there four years until I was told that I needed to move on. Suddenly, I found myself with a lot more time on my hands.

A few weeks ago, I was sitting on my couch playing video games when I realized that I should make better use of my free time. FINALLY, after 29 plus years since I flew the coup, I realized this. I have taken being a kid at heart to some extremes.

Since I'm still on active duty, I don't have the time to start up a business or the schedule predictability to get another job so I decided to research how to make money in my spare time from home. You probably ended up on Wealthy Affiliate because you did the same thing so you know that there are a ton of scams out there. I ran into one after another. There was always a catch or they wanted a credit card before you got started. They all seemed too good to be true until "Little Mama" led me here.

Wealthy Affiliate let me get started and build a website for free. I chose to pay more to further my training and take advantage of premium benefits which are pretty good. This is why I figure they're trustworthy.

In less than three weeks, I have a functioning website with 13 articles so far. I don't know if that's remarkable in the broader sense but it is for me. I'm pretty computer illiterate and I never learned to type. I have learned how to do affiliate links and many other ways to monetize my website. I can't figure out how to make adsense show up.

I haven't had a ton of traffic or made any money yet but I understand that this takes time. I'm just going to continue following Kyle's training step by step and work hard at it. I got ahead at times, fiddling around with my website but that kind of screwed me and I had to backtrack and fix things.

The most important thing for me out of all of this is that it's giving me something constructive to do. A hobby. I enjoy writing dog advice based on my experiences as a MWD handler and kennel manager. I'm always giving free advice anyway so why not reach a broader audience and try to help more people? Who knows? I might even make a buck or two over the next three years.

When I retire from the military I want to run my own business involving dogs. Maybe a pet resort, training or even just dog sitting and walking. This is giving me good experience setting up a website and promoting a business.

So don't quit, if I can do it you certainly can.
