Tell A Different Story

So often I read, "I have this going on, and that happened to me, and so and so is doing to this to me".

If that is what you choose to focus on, then you will keep getting the same thing.

Let me explain...

I know everyone has something going on in their lives at times, but it doesn't mean you have to keep thinking about it and honestly, making it worse.

Instead, start thinking about how you would like it to turn out.

That's right, daydream more. And instead of letting the negative feelings come up and start thinking that the situation wouldn't turn out the way you want it, think of how you would feel when it happens the way you want it to.

Also, instead of sitting there rolling your eyes thinking that I'm full of it...

Obviously your way hasn't worked so far, so why not try something different.

You can either live your life with a victim mentality or you can decide to take control!

Which one do you choose?

Have A Wonderful Weekend!

When you want something

yourself you have
to start moving different.

Saw this today and love it. Those are powerful words you have spoken.

Very good stuff, Siobhan. Trying to get someone to recognize that the paradigm they have fallen into can be changed is a real challenge.

Yes, it can be, and it may take a little time to change. Becoming aware of the story we tell ourselves is the first step, though.

For sure. The story - is it fiction or non-fiction? A healthy dose of introspection is good for what ails ya sometimes.

I follow Dr. Joe Dispenza, and he tells us we wake up and start living in the past.
To explain, when we wake up, we immediately start thinking about our problems, or pick up the phone to look at the news, FB, LinkedIn, IG, etc, to find that feeling of ourselves.
We need to live in the present and be conscious of thoughts and feelings.

The late Thich Nhat Hanh taught me about the present, anger, and other things. More people could open their hearts to the teachings of thinkers like these (Hanh and Dr. Joe) instead of thinking they have it all together. It would be a happier world.

Hi Siobhan,

Sage advice when applicable

Shake the dust of them from your feet is another way I've read of saying this as well.

Reminds me of the story of the two monks.

They had taken vows never to touch a woman and as they approached the river a beautiful woman waited needing to cross.

She asked for their assistance, and to the dismay of the younger monk the older one picked her up and carried her across.

Setting her down the two monks were off on their way.

Sometime later the younger monk finally couldn't hold his peace and asked with outrage

"How could you carry that woman across the river?'

To which the older monk replied

"Why are you still carrying her?"

I always loved that story and is a perfect match for your post.

Thanks for sharing your wise thoughts with us.

Regards,

Jason

I have never heard that story, but I like it!
