If I Were You I Wouldn't Change Hosts

Oh guys what a hassle, If I were you I wouldn't change hosts. EVER, Seriously, I've gone through it all, but not as bad as one of my friends who I made here, I'll explain.....

Basically, I swapped host to an external one as my site was slow. I thought to heck with spending the money, I need it. But, what was supposedly meant to be a really simple process was anything but!!!!

At first everything was going well, the company basically informed me that I needed to contact the place where I bought my domain from and ask them to change the DNS (Domain name servers) from WA to their Go Geek servers. This is their top shared hosting package.

There was meant to be no downtime (where your site is offline whilst they transfer it and it propagates) But lo and behold there were two WHOLE DAYS OF IT :'(

THEN I HAD THE FREE HTTPS (at the beginning of my domain name) and that was meant to make me rank higher. Maybe it is just because it is day two, but as yet that has made no difference.

Then there was there "Amazing" super cacher (Basically it speeds your site up) and that is yet to work on day three)

I feel a fool for even leaving WA hosting and potentially wasting my money.

If I were you I would not bother.

The friend that I alluded to earlier is Jimbo, and he has requested help from the exact same company and he is none the wiser as they are replying to with VERY technical talk. That's the thing with the tech' side of this, it is baffling and that's putting it mildly and these companies speak to us people who are trying to learn internet marketing, like we know all that stuff, ee I don't know.

The worst of it is over now but what a hassle it has been, but if I were you I WOULDN'T CHANGE HOSTS, it isn't worth the aggro.

Patient and perseverance is key to online business. I know a lot of WAers who blame hosting here for the 'supposedly' failure of their online business, but it does take time to get everything right eventually. I salute your courage for coming out loud and clear. We will just waste time by going round in cycles, while the speed of the hosting here might not be anything to write home about, things are happening faster than we can catch up with, the SSL Certificate is one of many. Let us all concentrate on our core businesses while we leave WA to o the rest.

yes well said!

yes what a pain in the ass to have to change hosts and what an even bigger pain in the ass to have to pay for hosting on top of WA membership but the biggest pain in the ass, pain number 3 is the technical gobble de geek you're presented with right after paying.

haha couldn't agree more mate, they've just expected me to minimize some amazon content n I@m like YEA RIGHT lol

Great post Simowatto. I alway say, The Devil Is IN The Details. Before committing to any Host platform read the details of the agreement and also read the transfer details of your prospective host platform. It's like you say, what seems like a seamless effort can break and create a real PITA.

ha yep n thanks mate

You have to change hosts if you leave WA. So this advice should be extended to Never Leave WA!

hehe yes I guess so :)

For us we did not have a choice. As IT professionals technical stuff is our bread and butter. However because we're going to be working with the US government and WA could not support some of the things that they require we had to go. Not only that but some of their features are so beneficial for people who have 10 or more websites it became smart for us. In addition for Speed purposes we will soon be switching to a dedicated server. Finances are not a problem for us.

But I agree with you if you are of limited skills WA works fine. But if you are in an average adult the things that you have to do are fairly simple and you should be able to pull them off.

WA works well for simple ma and pa sites.

I agree but we are not all people of unlimited money, though! lol

Thanks for the info :)

You are most welcome Jude P and I heard that u were leaving was my source wrong?

I was due to personal and financial reasons but have now been able to stay thanks to the kindness of others :)

I too was REALLY struggling to stay in the "game" this month but now I'm sorted thank goodness lol

The only problem I see here is because we have not the possibility to create .SI domain extension. However, it is understandable why this option is not available
