Are Backlinks Really That Important In building A Successful Niche Site?
Hi All,
So I have read a lot online about different niche site case studies. Almost all of them use the backlinks strategy. I was wondering if all you experienced inspiring people could answer my questions below.
Why do so many nice case studies focus on backlinks? is this important for 2014/2015
Are backlinks important for ranking? If so why?
How do you obtain genuine backlinks without paying the hefty cost?
Can you have a successful niche site without backlinks?
I would really appreciate your advice guys. As a newbie I am swapped by all the information online.
Thanks again :-)

Backlinks used to be a prime part of SEO. However that has changed with the latest Google Algorithm. Quality content on your site with social sharing and commenting are better indicators of how useful your site is to its visitors.
You can still build natural backlinks by commenting on website within your niches to get a few backlinks but I would concentrate on building quality unique articles, Google will find you!. Whatever you do don't pay for them.

Backlinks are still the MOST important ranking factor for Google, despite the tons of misconceptions going around out there.
Nevertheless, Google likes natural backlinks that come from quality content. But let's face it, it will take you a lot of time to get those in order to rank for competitive keywords.
You have to do a lot of blogger outreach and use other strategies like guest posting to get backlinks (for free).
Now, a training like WA can't recommend / teach you how to create backlinks because, as I said, Google doesn't approve of it.
Don't take my word for it. Read from the backlink expert, Brian Deane himself at http://backlinko.com/
