Squirrel Council Meeting

I received an Invitation to a Squirrel Council Meeting, held of course for this weekend. (The fact that I had to prepare for an Easter Feast was lost on them…). Oh well, Squirrel Logic, and whatnot.

As I proceed to run around, grabbing the ‘last minute essentials’ for the Feast, (also known as everything), the poor Druid Hamster ran on his little wheel, thought processing... being the Druid of Horticulture, this means there was a ‘seed of thought’, and I had to water it and let it grow.

This morning, during my caffeine induction, I had a ‘Thoughtgasm’!!

(Thoughtgasm: when a thought, or thoughts, brings about a EUREKA moment).

Going about my business, the Squirrels are running to and fro on this ‘thought’, and it hits me… KABOOM!

I’m not afraid of ‘Failure’, per se, I’m afraid of Success. Then I had to break that down.

I have come to look at Success with a bit of a sardonic view. To break that down further, I have also come to view ‘money wealth’ with a sprinkle of cynicism.

Tell me if ANY of these things sound familiar:

• Must be nice to be able to buy a new car (old car had 300,000 km, motor blew up)
• Oh, you can afford that? (1 trip to Disneyland… 1!!)
• Well, you really didn’t (don’t) have to work that hard. (After putting in 12 hours a day, 5-6 days a week).
• ‘He/ She’ received an inheritance / life insurance payout. How lucky for them! (Um, someone kicked the bucket in order for that to happen)…
• We made $500,000 last year! What did you make? From the looks of your (insert object), you’re doing ok(ish). (No seriously, I know this person! I just smiled, and said nothing).
• You could afford to go to Mexico, it’s cheap. (Keep in mind Mule and the fact that Mexico is probably not the best place for him to visit)…
• Obviously the (insert project / store / whatever) didn’t go well if you closed it.
• You should buy (again, insert object).

That’s the short list.

One person will see you as successful, and jab at that. Another will jab because your ‘not as’ successful.

THOUGHTGASM

During the Council Meeting, these ‘negative’ beliefs, as well as others not mentioned in the short lists, were put out on the table.

Slowly, the Squirrels and I went through them, put all of them out there, and proceeded to debunk them all!

In a blinding flash, it hit me… while I may ‘hear’ these thoughts, I don’t have to accept them. MIND BLOWN!!

Rabid Squirrel attended the meeting, however instead of adding a quote, he left the room. In his 'hands' he carried the lists of limiting beliefs to the 'Pit of Uselessness' and struck a match.
