Is Network Marketing truly a scam?

My experience so far...

I was going through some training in the boot camp and I happened to come across Kyle's page http://waystoavoidscamsonline.com/am-i-working-for-a-pyramid.... I found it very interesting because I got to hear both sides of the story. I am currently a part of a network marketing team with Amway and I can honestly say that I have learned a lot from them. In fact, I copied their business model and made it my own. I started an entirely new business by copying their strategies and within 2 months I was able to consistently profit about $800 a month.

What makes network marketing different

The thing that makes Amway different from other business models is that they focus on training and educating you. Just like Wealthy Affiliate has done for other affiliate marketers. My up line has been a great mentor to me and the people that I meet their inspire me every conference I go to. I don't get pressured into doing things that I do not want to do and everything is optional. In fact, I would say that I've learned about money more from my network marketing team than I have from my 4 years in college. That's saying a lot since a 4 years at university has costed me way more than what I have learned being a part of Amway.

It's all about Personal Development

If you like reading self development books I would defiantly recommend the book by Robert Kawasaki called "Rich Dad Poor Dad" (click for a free PDF of the book). This book educated me on what my real goal was to be doing with network marketing. That is to be mostly invested in developing yourself every day, take action, and to use your brain to make you money rather than your time. By developing yourself, you become a person that other people would want to follow. Doing so, allows you to invest into others and help them grow. That same cycle continues to grow down the line (down line) and that's how you make money with network marketing. Not by just selling products, your why has to go beyond just personal gain. You join someones team because you want to learn from them and be around them for the long term. The same goes for affiliate marketing, it's all about the long term!

However...

There are many bad affiliate networks out their and their are bad network marketing business out their. I am just happy to have found a good one.
