Wandering and Wondering

Wondering where I go from here... I'm stagnant with all of my sites, only because they All have at least 3 problems, when I check the sources, I find at least 6 more. I'm not a developer of websites, never had the training, I go to lengths on Google how to fix and try to find the correct verbage to do what I need to do. Speed, blocking issues, Largest Contentful Paint. I've learned along the way what these words mean but haven't absorbed a fix. I'm so close to conversions and revenue but stuck, hugely... stuck. I'm wandering all over the internet to figure it out but I'm just not a developer. After I paused most of my sites, I started reconstructing one particular site. Free is a good word and it's what people are attracted to. So that is where I went. Who doesn't like Free recipes! I'm really engaged with the site so I guess I wandered into another niche that seems to be gaining weight. This is such a ride, and experience I really have enjoyed and appreciated, but I wish I was smarter on the back office side, it really would have gotten me a lot farther, faster. But that's where patience comes in... I wonder 🤔 if I'll ever get there... but it's only 🐝 N a year and I refuse to give up my dreams. Thank you WA.

Yeah, people like free, but often those aren't the ones who buy anything. I, too, search for free recipes, but I've never bought anything from one of those sites. If that's your plan, then while you can include some affiliate links, your greatest chance to make money will come from ad networks.

One other point - yes, just work on one site at a time and make that successful before you move on to a second or third. Otherwise you are just duplicating mistakes. Plus, trying to do everything yourself can make you crazy. I know I'm not naturally a programmer, and it stopped me more times than I could count, so finally I hired someone and voila - success! Just something to think about.

If you enjoy creating content, keep that up. It would be fairly easy to find someone in WA who could work with you on the other things. I am sure you have tried this, but I that I can access most things on Youtube with a bit of searching. I have solved some pretty complex things that way. Always be willing to ask for help with a specific question in WA. Someone will know how to help.

Thank you for your response, I don't plan on stopping... I've come to far.

I’d go with Phil’s advice here.
Just concentrate on writing, you can always outsource to Fiverr to fix the back end dramas when your ready.
I keep shaking my head when I look at my websites speed. Spend a few hours a week on it and it’s slowly getting better.
But I’m not going to let it stop my writing.
But that’s just me.
Thanks
Stephen

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about it, appreciate it.

I know what you mean, Sheryl, but remember "Slow and Easy" wins the race! Setting up a profitable business takes time, and hard work, and keeping it successful takes even more sionce times and things change too! Enjoy the ride and work diligently, and you will succeed!

You're veyr welcome, Sherry! I am very happy for you too about your progress!

Have a pleasant evening!

Jeff

Sherry, take it from me who was/is a software developer of I don't like to say but many years than I care to remember.

Whilst it's great sometimes to be able to fall back on those skills I very seldom do because there is absolutely no need to.

I'm sure you will have heard the KISS approach...Keep It Simple ?

I think if you asked most people they may not like to admit it but most will find themselves struggling for all sorts of reasons.

I know I am but you know what?

We can call it a day and give up which is what most people tend to do or we can push through those barriers and come out the other side a better person for doing so.

But more importantly, success could just be waiting around the corner.

That's my two penn'orths for what it's worth!

Have a nice day

Mick

You never know what is around the corner... I agree 💯 thanks for your Penny's worth.
