Progress so far - May 2018
After a week away on learning how to drive more traffic through social media (through another marketing course), I'm back and have started applying to be an affiliate with individual brands through Shareasale & Linkshare. Hoping to hear back with good news! I've already been rejected by one brand, but as they say, on to the next! I will reapply further on when I have more traffic.
Think my main goal for this Q2 is to drive as much traffic & engagement back to my blog, which means posting at least 3x a week. And also, focusing on 2 main social media channels - Instagram & Pinterest to market my blog. I think these will be 2 crucial traffic drivers, esp. in the beginning. Have already started testing some strategies in this area and will continue to do so as I keep writing my blogposts.
I'm also sorting out some admin work with applying for programmes and for my business to make sure I set it up in properly NOW vs having to go through it later. eg. setting up my business as a LLC vs sole propietorship.
I'm also learning about a bunch of other ways to make money, including doing funnels and bitcoin.
Each week has been a very interesting learning, and it's an ongoing process to learn, but I have to keep reminding myself to EXECUTE, EXECUTE, & EXECUTE. I've definitely committed myself to blogging for sure though, I've signed up for yearly membership at WA, migrated my site to a .com and had a realization about blogging, which is something that I've always loved and probably would do even if I didn't need the money.
But yes, I'm here to make money, and it's important that my results reflect this.
I've stopped taking additional freelance clients and am focused on my blog for now. These learnings have been opening new possibilities for me in terms of how to make money online (as a location independent), and the ability to do it as a solopreneur. Ultimately, it's my WHY of becoming location independent, working for myself and having unlimited income potential that is driving me. I also hope to use these income sources to do other businesses that may be less profitable and take a longer time to build.
Blogging about my progress is great, as I'm working on my own, it's a great way to hold myself accountable for my work & results. I will update again next month with my progress!
Update: I have put in the affiliate links into my posts, as well as ad banners on the site, no sales yet, but I'm way on hitting to my target of 1,500 pageviews per month. Am already at 359 pageviews, so think I'm close already and haven't started properly on my social media strategy.
I may revise my pageview count further on, if I've surpassed it, but would need to look into conversions of sales later on. Will keep doing the WA training and add more posts, but also to push more on social media, as that's what's driving my traffic right now.
What's a good number of pageviews to aim for?

Woohoo! after being rejected by several brands, I've been approved as a publisher for a well-known UK high street brand! so exciting!
also, for my IG account: i've started getting requests to collaborate with photographers & brands, even though I dont have a huge following yet!
meanwhile, one thought i've had is to go through all my old content and re-write and re-optimize it for SEO, which I didn't know how to do before this. That should also improve my rankings without just having to work on the new content.
