My cooking related question to YOU

*I am performing some research and would appreciate YOUR views, opinions, ideas , and suggestions - This is open to everyone*

When it comes to meals (breaky/lunch/supper/snacks), what is it you try to cook?

Do you typically Google for ideas and recipes? What is it you 'search' for? Are you more inclined to crack open a cookbook/recipe book rather than surf the internet?

Do you find that you are more interested in healthy recipes, or perhaps a recipe that uses whatever it is you have laying around the house?

Has the way you cook today changed greatly from a year ago? What has changed? Why?

What is it you like/dislike about preparing or making meals?

All input is GREATLY appreciated!

Thank you to all!

Well..
Sometimes I have situations when I don't know what to cook on weekends and I google for healthy recipes...
Or there are some days where I have certain ingredients at home and google for receipes I can make with these ingredients...

Hi, I go to Google when I want something different for tea, mostly to get ideas, The ingredients in some recipes, and the cost & time to make them not worth it.. I love Donna Hays take on food, or 4 ingredient recipes. Quick and simple.

Thank you Wendy I really appreciate your feedback!

I definitely look to Google or Bing to find recipes. What I like to do , since I love spices, is to search for a recipe that you can make using that spice. I get my inspiration from things I already have around the house.

The way I cook today has definitely changed a lot. What I used to do was only cook simple things like eggs, instant potatoes, TV dinners, but I want to be more health conscious. With that in mind I always look for low calorie meals or natural meals, not instant. I look for recipes that are not too complicated too.

The thing I dislike about preparing my meals is the time it takes to do it. What I like is I can find so many recipes by just searching for recipes with one simple ingredient.

Hope this helps your research!

Hi Amanda, this is indeed very helpful! Thank you so much!

Something I would really like is a cookbook (or really anything) catered to the young person who is in school and doesn't have very much time to cook. I'm doing my bachelor's degree now and I intend to move out when I start my Masters. Therefore I have/will have a lot of homework and not very much time to cook. I also don't really know how to cook, so...simple too would be nice. I know I'm asking for a lot but every cookbook/website I see is full of elaborate recipes that I don't have the time or skill to pull off.

Basically: a series of recipes for students/busy people who don't know how to cook and really don't like to.

Awesome. This helps a great deal. Thank you very much for your feedback! :D

Either Pinterest or the Whitewater Cookbooks for me and my family. Healthy all the way as we've got very athletic and active kids. The only change I've made is that my cooking (which I love to do...breaky lunch or dinner) focusses more on what's in season.

Thank you for the feedback!

I must be old fashioned at heart lol because I rarely go to Google to cookbooks to cook anything. I cook the foods that I learned to make and its primarily what I eat. However, when I specifically want to try something different, yes, I will scour the internet and look. It is easier and there are loads more recipes to choose from to me than going to get a cookbook. What I look for online always ranges, but it is often looking for healthy recipes or how to make certain foods and treats for the season (like Valentine's Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas). I always often go out to gather the food when I get recipes because if I have anything laying around, I will fix something up myself. To me, the point of looking online is to get new ideas, not so much using what I have. I would say the only cooking change for me is adding more greens and fruits to my meals because I try to cautiously eat better. My most hated thing about preparing meals the length. Some meals, namely dinner, can take a long time.

Awesome, thank you for the reply Gem, I really appreciate the input!
