I Won a Friend!

While waiting for hummingbirds to show up here in south AL, I followed a facebook group called Hummingbirds Anonymous. Just recently a member was giving away a free "birdeed." What is a birdeed you ask? It is handmade, wooden, bird feeder that holds flower pots and bird feeders. I said sure, I won't win anyway, I'll go ahead and enter. Shortly thereafter, I received notice that I had won!

That's my husband.

Now I know I said I won a friend. I'm coming to that.

I spoke to the sender, her name is Gretchen, and I learned that her and her dad were making these feeder hangers. We had some issues with the USPS and delivering, but Gretchen was very nice and followed up and I received my birdeed. (Great customer service!) The birdeed was much bigger than I expected. Since she was so nice to offer a free gift, I thought it would be nice to help her sell by taking some photos and posting to the facebook group. She received over 80 likes and many were also surprised at the size. It wasn't clear in the diagrams how big it really was and I think that may have been hindering their sales. After this, several people said they wanted one. She did get an order, but won't know the source until tomorrow.

Gretchen seemed really nice, easy to talk to and I could tell they were new to marketing, by some items missing on their website and facebook pages. I offered some suggestions and she implemented them. Now, I'm no expert by any means, but I have learned a few things here at WA. Then I had a thought. We are all here to help one another. Let me help her grow her business, which is one of my niches anyway, so I told her about WA. She immediately signed up and I got my first referral.

We have spoken lots since I won that birdeed and became friends. I am trying to help her with her business which helps me remember things I should be doing. It's a win-win for both of us.
