How Big Is Your RAM?

I started writing a quick article on my experiences with a slow computer and how I came to determine how much RAM I had and how much I could have. The words came easily and photos I wanted to add popped into my head. I could only add one photo here and I realized I had an article I could put on my website. So I transferred everything there. I do not have an affiliate with the company I found on the internet and I know I cannot share my website here. So I will put the basics of the article here and you know you can always check my profile for my website list to find the complete article. This article pertains to all of us even if you don't use a desktop computer.

So, my computer was getting slow and I wanted to upgrade the RAM. How much did I have and how much could I have? I had no idea and no idea of where to start to figure that out. My research pointed me to a company called http://www.crucial.com. You can download their scanner to tell you exactly what specs you have and what is compatible with those specs in order to upgrade. They provide videos on how to install your new parts and detailed info about the item you have ordered.

Even though they had provided all of this great info, I wanted to find a better price. I spent a lot of time trying to compare apples to apples. Not everyone listed the item the same and I usually found some spec that I didn't know about or was different even though I searched on the same item. With computers, the item has to match. More research done. After all of that, I decided it was best to spend a bit more money and know I was getting exactly what I needed. So, the bottom line is if you need a computer part, go to Crucial.com and you'll be done in no time.

Something else that I realized. How many people are coming to our sites and then going elsewhere because it offers the same thing as everyone else and customers just want the product at a better price? Make sure you have something of value, a reason for them to buy from you and not somewhere else. I know that Crucial can tell me what I need and quickly and save me time, which is money, and that is worth paying a bit more.

Have you had difficulty upgrading your computer? Have you found an easy way to find your computer specs ? What was it? Feel free to share it.

P.S. I just learned that you can have more than one photo in a blog. Ugh! How many blogs could I have made better with more than one photo. So even in writing an article on something else, I have learned something.

You can always goto to Task Manager/ Performance to see how much RAM you have. Also, don't forget to clean your browser history regularly as well as perform system scan. I use Malwarbytes for that. Will speed up your computer.

Thanks for the tips. I did know how much RAM I had, I just didn't remember how it was configured or how much my motherboard could handle. I was going to buy 4gb more before I learned that I would have been sending it back. I also use Malwarebytes and CCleaner to keep my computer in top performance.

Belarc Advisor (free from belarc.com) will give you a comprehensive list of what's in your computer. It's free for personal use, corporations have to pay for it.

Thanks Marion. I didn't see that one come up in my research. I'll check it out.

Hi Shelly, recently my computer was running slow since it only had 4 gigs Ram. So I too went to crucial and got another 4 gigs and installed it myself. Quite a difference now, computer runs fine. Have a great day!
