I have tried one theme and it wouldn't download into WA? I am not a web dev person? WA Tech support said go through FTP, which I have no idea how to do - which means I do hou

I have downloaded a theme several times in WP. WA website would not take the theme from My theme Shops - it gave me that message.

I have found a new one that is from My Theme Shop that is got lots of new features and a simple interface to get up and running compared to Thrive.

Triblue- I did go to the zip to see if there was anything to unzip - nothing. I contacted My Theme Shop, they didn't understand why unless WA has a file limitations? Their email instructions and site download instructions are the same: download the entire zip.

When I contacted WA technical they said to use FTP?? - which I do not know how to do and would have to do considerable research to understand and figure out. So I got a refund from that theme, since I didn't know where to go next.

Moving forward....I know the benefits of Thrive, but there is a considerable learning curve and I was trying to get up quicker without taking a mini web development class in the process.

I just don't understand why WA is not taking comprehensive themes in the first place. Just another thing I am not happy with on WA since I have arrived.

I can't try to see if a theme downloads without buying it and I don't want to keep buying themes to find out they don't work here. It would be easier to leave and go to Siteground, but then another expense not counted on.

Thank you for your help.

If you don't want to go through the process of uploading large theme files using FTP, then another option is to place it on a cloud server like Dropbox or Google Drive and then open a support ticket and provide them with a download link for them to install it for you.

Have you looked at highly-customisable freemium themes like Customizr which is popular with many members at WA? https://wordpress.org/themes/customizr/

There's also extensive documentation on using it here:
http://docs.presscustomizr.com/article/175-first-steps-with-the-customizr-wordpress-theme

thank you for that new information - I will check it out - I have 2 sites I need to get up.
Support ticket here on WA>? thanks

Hey Sheila,

First off, some themes pack EVERYTHING into the zip files and that you will never be able to upload. So, when I run into this sort of issue, I unzip the file to see if there is another zip file with ONLY the theme inside of their zip file.

Sounds ridiculous, I agree ... but some vendors selling themes do just that.

If in fact you have ONLY the theme zip file (Thrive themes are my favs!) then you should not have any problem uploading your theme through your WordPress dashboard.

Hope this helps you.

I use a theme from My Theme Shop. To install on your website, the process is like this:

1. Download the theme to your computer. I download everything to a directory called Downloads.
2. Log into your WordPress (WP) Admin area.
3. In the left navigation column, click on Appearance, then themes Appearance > Themes
4. You will see the "Add New" button under Themes. Click this to open up another screen.
5. Click on the "Choose File" button so that you can select the theme you downloaded to your computer.
6. Once you have chosen the file, click the "Install Now" button.
7. That should do it.

Which theme do you have? I am looking at Authority? I bought another and WA said it would not go into their site.

I am using Socially Viral; I also have Bloggie theme installed but it's inactive. They both show on the screen shot.

Thank you - was it hard to set up?- - I like that theme, too. I wonder why I had so much trouble with the download of the other theme from their store? - Will contact them again. Thanks

You are welcome! It was easy to set up.

I just downloaded a theme from Thrive today and loaded it without a problem.

The file you download from Thrive, is just a basic zip file. Save it to your desk top. Easy to find there.

Then go into your site's backpage and go to "appearance" and click on 'Themes'.

Once on the theme page click on "add new" button. Screen changes and then a new button appears... click on "upload theme".

A browse option pops up... click on it. Then find your Zip file. Once you find the zip file just click on 'install now'.

That is exactly what I did to install FOCUS BLOG from Thrive.

I had no issues.

Good Luck!

TD

Are you real computer savvy? I heard Thrive has some setup issues for the novice? I can do a simple WP site, but not all the bells and whistles. I am studying Html/Css, but it would be quite a while before I would be able to adjust a site.

thanks

Do I have the privacy option, since I do not see it anywhere.

Thanks.

All domains you purchase by default have the whois privacy set to "on". You want this in place ideally because it protects your personal details and protects you from a lot of spam, solicitation and often times scams.

On your SiteDomains page:

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/domains

Under Settings => Contact & Privacy, you will see the option to turn whois privacy on and off.

Yes, I know I want it and I see it now, thanks

Hi Kyle:

Can I use Beaver Builder themes on WA?

How can I change the current site domain - jointpainhacked.com to a different domain name - jointreliefideas.com, so I don't have to rebuild the site. I have quite a bit done and ready for my own theme at this point.

Thanks,
Sheila
