The Long Trail: How 2025 Forced Me to Find Myself (Blog 1 of 2)
Published on January 4, 2026
Published on Wealthy Affiliate — a platform for building real online businesses with modern training and AI.
2025 was a year where I had to find myself.
I struggled hard with affiliate marketing and I’m still struggling today.
Not because Wealthy Affiliate didn’t work.
Not because the training failed.
Not because the system is broken.
But because I was building before I truly understood who I was building as.
This blog is a real story. Real numbers. No hype.
By the end of it, I want to show you something important: you can build just to build, follow the system, generate traffic from multiple platforms, and still feel like something isn’t clicking yet.
Then, in Blog 2, you’ll see what happens when that missing piece finally shows up.
Let’s get into the trail.
2025 Was a Year of Searching, Not Winning
Coming into 2025, effort wasn’t my problem.
I was publishing.
I was learning.
I was testing.
What I didn’t have was clarity.
I ran two affiliate-focused websites. I explored multiple content angles. I kept trying to “dial it in,” believing that one more tweak would unlock momentum.
Instead, what I felt most of the year wasn’t burnout.
It was friction.
The System Worked Here’s the Proof
This part matters, because a lot of people quit before they ever see this stage.
Across 2025, I generated traffic from five different sources using affiliate-style content and brand-led posts.
Here’s what the numbers actually looked like.

133,962 total views
41,327 organic views
92,635 from ads
1,700+ content interactions
Even without perfect messaging, people were seeing the content.

3,533 total views
7,400 reach
Engagement was low, but discovery was happening.

412,970 impressions

2,300 impressions
16.7% engagement rate
395 engagements
Not massive numbers, but proof that even smaller platforms can move attention when used correctly.
Search Engines (This Is Important)

Google Search Console (Affiliate site):
- 10,600 impressions
- 6 clicks

Bing Webmaster Tools:
- 1,300 impressions
- 37 clicks
- 2.87% CTR
Search engines were indexing the content. Traffic was forming. Foundations were being laid.
This wasn’t failure.
This was early-stage validation.
So Why Didn’t It Explode?
Here’s the honest part.
I had traffic.
I had visibility.
I had multiple platforms working at once.
What I didn’t have yet was alignment.
Not because the system didn’t work.
Not because the training failed.
But because I was applying the right tools with the wrong mindset.
The entire time I was building this affiliate brand, I had one thing in my head:
find products, promote products, earn commissions.
And because of that, I presented the brand that way.
When you build from that angle, traffic can show up, movement can happen, sign-ups can come in but the connection stays shallow. People engage, but they don’t attach.
That’s the part nobody really talks about.
What 2025 Was Really Teaching Me
Even while I felt like I was struggling, I was learning things that don’t show up in dashboards.
I was learning:
- How tone affects trust
- Why people follow voices, not niches
- Why consistency matters more than tactics
- Why belief changes how you write, post, and explain
I didn’t learn that from a lesson.
I learned it from resistance.
Why I’m Sharing This Inside Wealthy Affiliate

I’m sharing this because a lot of builders reach this stage and think something is wrong.
Nothing is wrong.
You’re building skills before alignment.
And that’s normal.
Wealthy Affiliate gave me the tools, the structure, and the foundation. What I had to discover on my own was what I actually cared enough about to stay with.
I want to be clear about something.
I don’t see Wealthy Affiliate as just affiliate marketing anymore. I see it as a brand-building platform that happens to include affiliate marketing as one of its strongest tools.
Affiliate marketing, when done right, works. It’s about standing behind something you trust and guiding people toward it with clarity and consistency. When that belief and presentation are aligned, affiliate brands grow exactly the way they’re supposed to.
What I learned in 2025 wasn’t that affiliate marketing doesn’t work. It was that how you frame your brand determines how people connect with it. When the focus is only on outputs like clicks, sign-ups, and movement, growth can still happen but the relationship with the audience stays shallow.
That’s not a system issue.
That’s a framing issue.
Looking Ahead to Blog 2
Even without my heart fully in this affiliate brand, the foundation I learned here still works. This brand continues to get sign-ups every month, even when I barely touch it and that alone shows how powerful the system really is when it’s built the right way.
If someone asked me today whether they should start an affiliate brand, I’d say yes if it’s something you’re truly passionate about. If it’s not, this is likely what you’ll see: systems working, but connection missing.
In Blog 2, I’m going to show you what happens when belief and passion finally line up.
You’ll see two brands that both worked but only one that’s starting to leave the gate.
That difference is real.
I’ll see you there.
