The Google Dance!

Just as a heads up for you new to SEO, when you make changes on your website and do everything right, you share in socially, you fetch as Google the post you have just written, and then the next day you check your ranking and see that your site has tanked a page or two or even disappeared this is not the time to freak out.

Google does a thing called the google dance every now and then and if you just chill and give it a day or two, you may see your ranking come back not only where you were but higher.

I have had sites that produce good money completely disappear from google for a day ior two after adding content.

Just relax and like I said, give it a day or two, then if things are not better then start investigating.

Just thought I would share this in case any of you have or are experiencing similar results.

True... Some algorithms implemented by Google are not known to us... no point to worry, it will come back eventually

it almost always does :)

Good to know

I agree :)

Good to know this info.

Keep it in the back of our minds :)

This is true, Shawn.
We must also consider that "other people" are doing other things as well.
This is one long happy dance and no one wants to leave the party.
Everyone wants to be loved and dance forever.
Paul

They sure do!

Dance Fever.

Yep, bouncing around like John Travolta...... :P

?!

Thanks for sharing...

My pleasure :)

Yeah, Google dances are always fun (NOT!). I've seen some with short term effects, others which have wiped out sites entirely. WA teaches best practices which rarely change during a Google dance, so most WA sites will do just fine, but yup, it will rearrange things for a while

I agree most sites will see limited bouts of this if built following the training here.
It is just disheartening when your site does the opposite of what you intend, lol

I lost one site several years ago because Google thought we had too many keywords in the title! Didn't matter that average time on page was 4 minutes as they read my long articles. Google didn't care that our conversion rate was 75%. Overnight - gone....

Now that is not a good story :(

thanks for the info

Always glad to share :)

Yes, I have been seeing that a lot more lately, even for posts that I have had on page one for years.

it can change daily.

I love your image! Thanks for the information. I am one of the impatient ones.

We all are :)

Definitely not time to freak out, in particular because Google operates very much in real time these days with their search rankings. You could move 100's of places in a day, while they reconfigure their algorithm.

In the end, if you are creating content of quality you will find that there will be bumps in the road for rankings on particular pages/posts (even your entire site), but the chart will move up and hit new high rank peaks through time.

Spot on Kyle :)
