How I fight procrastination

The to do list is established and you have some task to complete. Arise from your sleep at a decent hour and you believe time is on your side. You say to yourself I have time to get that done I’ll start soon. Soon comes and you say to yourself well it’s still early I’ll get to that to do list this afternoon. The afternoon comes and then you find yourself either parked on the couch watching the idiot box or you got a call that tied you up for the next hour. My mother said procrastination was the trait of a lazy person. I’ve been plagued by this trait for years today I want to share with you just how I fight procrastinating.

Do not take time for granted

Time waits for no one it will pass by in the blink of an eye and there’s no turning back the clock. Once it’s gone it is GONE! Use the time in your day wisely you’ll find that doing a little gets a lot done. Dedicating 45 min increments out the day to tackle your to do list will complete each task with ease.

Get started right away

Once I wake up I wash up stay off my phone do my daily devotion and begin attacking my to do list right away. My goal is to complete at least one task before I break from my duties. Some days I yearn for that coffee break because my brain is usually smoking from the thought being put into creating. Other days when the creative juices are flowing I can work until everything is complete. The key Is to start first thing when the day has just begun the earlier the better. This will work in your advantage to getting more done.

Just start

Don’t hesitate! Just begin. the beautiful part of wealthy affiliate is there’s so much to do with creating that getting rolling is easy to do.

My Day begins with the top 10 blogs which has great reads daily. Next I take a stop by site comments to find an interesting read and to get ideas on content creation.

Next I get into content research for keywords, ideas, and subjects to write about. This is there important part of my to do that is a daily task.

Stay away from the distractions

  • Cell phones
  • Tv
  • Video games
  • Family
  • Friends

These are the top 5 distractions that can easily take you away from completing the things you need to get done.

The day I opened my cell phone to look at my screen usage and realized I spend almost 10hrs a day on my phone with majority of those hours dedicated to Social media doom scrolling I was appalled.

To combat this the minute I wake up I silence my phone from alerting me and it’s face down on my night stand. On the mornings I am working from it my Notifications are turned off. When I saw the amount of time spent aimlessly scrolling it was easy to make that adjustment to cut back.

Tv was the easiest distraction to overcome because nothing is ever on worth watching. It’s used as background noise in most cases for me Along with video games I kind of grown out of playing by myself. If my grandson doesn‘t beg me to play I’m ok with not indulging.

Family and friends both can distract you in many ways son you have to be mindful of what’s going on. Outside of emergency situations with children or someone dying I will ignore all interaction. It’s easy for my cousin to get me away from my screen to go fishing so I won’t pick up his phone calls. My brother will call and talk for hours about everything. he’s another one who won’t get an answer.

it’s hard to ignore my grandkids because they live upstairs from me and they frequent my place often. The benefits of working early when they are in school or later when they’re sleep and I have alone quiet time to get my work done.

In closing

The best way to fight procrastinating is to just get started. Don’t wait to do the work because time will pass you by. The more intentional you are about completing your task the more you will get done.

Enough of my rambling and if you stayed and read all off this to the end I thank you! My hopes is that something was shared to help the procrastinator.

If you have any tips or ideas to combat laziness please share and don’t forget to like.

Until next time

Peace, love, and a bottle of hair grease ✌🏾
