So Far . . .

Here I am, at the end of Course 2, where I'm asked to write my first WA blog post. I have to be asked to do this, because despite the fact that I find myself drawn to this very self-motivated world of online self-employment, I have never been a self-motivated person.I don't admit this on job applications, of course, but I'm not a self-starter. I rely on the expectations of others to keep me on task.

So here I am, at the end of Course 2 at Wealth Affiliate, trying to overcome what has always been the biggest shortcoming in my personality, trying to become a self-motivated person, because all I have ever actually wanted to do with my life is write, and this is a chance to do that. It's taken me longer than it should have to get to this point, but I'm here, and I'm getting better at it.

WA helps, not just by showing me what I need to do and how to do it, but by keeping me on task, and motivated, by providing with each lesson the one thing that I respond to best: a checklist of tasks to be completed. I would never have gotten so far without such a well organized program helping me.

The modern world has embraced this idea that we just need to "be ourselves" and we'll find fulfilment in life. This is true, but also somewhat dangerous. Yes, we have to be true to ourselves, follow our talents and our dreams, but if left to myself, I'd just as soon ignore the world completely and spend all day every day watching TV (which, yes, is the reason I chose a television related niche). Sometimes we do have to change things about ourselves in order to become the people we want to be, and there is nothing wrong with relying on others for help and motivation if that's what we need. This world is a bad place when people stop helping each other, after all.

So I'm grateful that I found WA. I'm grateful for the help. And I'm grateful for what I've achieved so far.
