Earthquake at 8:07 am in North Carolina?
If you really think about it, where mountains are formed, there is a fault line. This line is essentially two pieces of earth colliding into eachother every once in a while producing tremors and sometimes full on earthquakes!
Well, I was in an earthquake this morning! I live in southwestern Virginia near the college town that Virginia Tech is located.
I was sitting on my couch working on my website and all of a sudden felt this shaking. It wasn't loud and I briefly thought that Glenn had slammed a door downstairs causing a stronger vibration.
Silly me...
There was an initial jolt then a longer tremor that lasted about 3 seconds. I started looking around from where I sat after my dog started barking. The furniture behind me had creeked a little bit, but no damage.
I went outside about five minutes later and yelled for Glenn. I told him I thought we had had a minor earthquake and told me that when he had gone outside from our garage, he heard what sounded to him like an approaching rainstorm, but then when I came out, he said he couldn't hear it anymore.
Sure enough:

Shake, rattle & roll! I like the small ones, not the big ones which I have only experienced once back in 1983. And where do I retire to? A place where earthquakes are common. haha I guess I didn't think that one all the way through. :-)
Glad everything is ok.

That's quite strong for that area. Wow1
Yes! It was actually pretty neat. Kinda felt like a mild amusement ride.
