What does one do when one immerses oneself in a project?

I don't know about the rest of you, but I tend to jump into the deep end, submerge myself, and before I know it...ten hours have just gone up in smoke. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. Some might call it "flow" or another one of those fancy terms. However, when one's spouse sits one down the next day and tongue-in-cheek says, "Soooo, are we going to see anything other than the top of your head today?"...

...it may be time to re-visit some time management.

Yes, I tend to dive head-first into projects, especially when I sense value. Being wet behind the ears here at WA, I devoured Level 1 of certification training in a day. After a night's rest, it's clear that, like anything, I will flame out rapidly at this rate.

Me: But the training is so freaking GOOD!

Husband: Yeah, but WE are pretty cool too!

Author Josh Kaufman says that new skills can be learned quickly with a small, focused amount of practice per day. My husband has no idea what I'm doing with WA and I doubt he would be all that interested. But he does in fact take an interest in how much time I devote to any one project...especially when it consumes me. I can be easily consumed here (it's all fascinating to me) but I'm a firm believer in balance and harmony, for all concerned.

Happy 2020 everyone!

Thanks, Tim...trying!

I think that you have just made a significant breakthrough, Senja;

If we go hard out, we will burn out, have seen it many times here in WA over the years. If we stick at it we will succeed.

Finding that balance can be the key to crating a sustainable online presence, many fail to grasp that reality.

The work in progress can be figuring that out, to much energy invested in one area, will mean another area will suffer.

Your husband will keep you on track, that can be a good thing.

Best wishes for 2020.

Alex

Thank you, Alex! And you are absolutely right...my husband is always there to rein me in, thankfully!

Happy New Year to you!
