Life at Shady Creek Farm

We have been very busy here at our Spicewood, Texas farm. We now have 31 tomato plants planted and growing. We will start more in April, May and June. We can also start in June and July to grow through the Fall to late Fall or the first frost. Yep our tomato's are Yummy and we will be canning as we harvest. We will use many tomato's for our wonderful Salsa!! We have taste tested our Salsa with many friends. They all love it and want the recipe and of course my answer was NO. Many say we should sell it. Well that is a possibility but the process can be difficult. We may begin looking into the possibility of taking it public. Next week we will start our Butter Nut Squash, cucumbers and beans.

Six years ago we left Austin, Texas. Austin was just getting to big for 2 people who were raised on farms. So here we are 3/6/2017 enjoying our beautiful modest home and our wonderful property. Blue Bonnets are starting to bloom, I have promised to send pictures when they are in full bloom. Monty and Gary are out in the yard laying in the sun, boy are they spoiled.

Well anyway the growth from Austin has burst toward us at high speed, so we just heard that there is a Development of 2,200 acres and 2,200 homes, coming straight down Paleface Ranch Road and ending very near our property. We are in an area were there is only one way in and out. Right up the hill the road ends at a cliff looking over the lake. I don't know what this all means yet, but I do know that we have already had calls about our property. It is what it is. I never want to move again. Common sense tells us that we are in a pretty great position at this time. Watch for my next report.

Wait I got so wrapped up in the new development heading our way I forgot to tell you all that we just ranked at 968. That is very exciting to us. Next goal 500. WOOOOOHOOOO from Texas.

Watch for my next news report.

Thanks Ivine
Sherry

yeehah! back at ya in Texas!

Are you a fellow Texan? Thanks for your response.

Your situation sounds like mine. I wrote a post, The Value of a Moo, which addresses urban sprawl. I guess we can always move farther west like to Van Horn. My brother in law used to manage a cattle operation out there. I wrote, Ode to Neil, in his honor. I love the peacefulness of that country.

Is the post you are talking about still available and your Ode to Neil? You sound like you love to write, me too, I will check your posts. Wishing you much success.
