Working Toward Success
Success - The Journey
Success is not the same for everyone. This much is true. For some it can be measured in comments, interaction iwth users. For others, there is usually a dollar amount that defines success. Personally, I see success as a journey with small goals leading up to bigger goals but with no real end. For instance, your first minor goal may be to have 100 subscribers to your blog.Once you satisfy that goal, what should be the next one, 200 subscribers? I believe it should be more multidimensional. For instance, let's say your goal is 50 subscribers but you also have a sister goal of sales of $100 for a month and another subgoal would be to be ranked in all 3 major search engines (Google, Bing and Yahoo). Taking this multi-dimensional approach allows you to broaden your reach and move your business forward in 3 different directions. Having a purely monetary goal does not seem sustainable and probably isn't if that is all you are seeking. Now days, you need to penetrate a market by building an audience, and coverting subscribers to actual sales and have effective SEO which would build on the previous two goals. While these goals are favorable, you would also want to simultaneously be building your social media presence and getting linked from other blogs and websites. It does seem convoluted and in a lot of ways it is. This endeavor is not for the faint of heart or one who is afraid of hard work. The pay off will not be instantaneous but will take time, effort and yes, a good number of failed attempts. However, if we endure, we can achieve a level of success we may not have anticipated and if not keep at it until you do.

Great post!
It's completely true. WA is a big community and we all have different goals. The important thing is to reach them at our own pace.
