Using Hashtags To Reach A Broader Audience
I learn so much from my son and I apologize if I may bore you with his attempt to teach an old dog new tricks.
Yesterday he turned me on to adding #mondaymotivation to my twitter post for a new blog post. My son said it will be grouped with other tweets under that hashtag. It works, I got more engagement than I have ever received before I added the hashtag.
I decided to go on twitter and see what Tuesday looked like and here is my list:
- #TuesdayThoughts
- #TuesdayMotivation
- #TuesdayBookBlogs
- #TuesdayTreats
I am sure most of you already are dialed in on using hashtags to reach a larger audience. It works on all the social media outlets.

Years ago I was trying to learn the internet and a so-called entrepreneur told me to find a teenager to teach me how to use a computer. A bit hard to do in my Australian bush town where I live as the young ones that do not move to the city for a better life are spoilt, all drugged up or drunk. The local Kangaroos are smarter.
I have always wondered at the significance of that. I’d like to learn more, though, how it “exactly” works. How does merely attaching a hashtag gain you more traffic?
It would be interesting to know.
Awesomeness!
Mojalefa.
Great question.
It is similar to using a keyword if that makes sense. Keywords are a Google thing. Hashtags are more linked to social media.
So you could do a post to promote WA. post it on FB, Twitter, etc. and follow it with #makemoneyonline or #makemoneyfromhome or #makemoneyblogging.
Your post would have a greater opportunity to be read by people interested in making money online thus increasing your traffic.
I hope that helps.
Thanks for sharing some hashtag ideas. #mondaymotivation sounds like a good one to add to my tweets!
Cheers, Jude
