AA Method #3: Learn From The Best (Direct Response Marketers) or Fail Like The Rest


I know this sounds like a no-brainer, and you're probably thinking, "Thanks a lot Capt. Obvious..." But bear with me, for just a few, and hear me out.

Far too often, I see niche marketers taking the wrong approach to their marketing campaigns, resulting in no customers and no sales.

Where did they go wrong? How do they take the wrong approach?

I sometimes think it's easy to get distracted, and "veer out of your lane." We need to remember that we are Niche Marketers, and not Coca-Cola or Apple.

As a Niche Marketer, you can't run massive TV ads or promotional campaigns in hopes of people seeing them and then coming straight to you. Not to mention the cost of some of those ad spots!

The widely held belief that a company needs to dedicate 10% or their revenue to a marketing budget is crazy! In fact, a recent study by Gartner shows that this number actually has risen to 12-13%.

As a Niche Marketer, can you compete with that? Of course, you can't, which is why you need to run targeted marketing campaigns by using the principles of direct response marketing.

What is direct response marketing?

It is a targeted and controlled marketing approach, that aims for a specific action/response from your target audience vs.just creating brand awareness.

These "specific action/responses" could be many things like subscribing to your email list, or getting a discount code, to buying a trial, etc. It's an approach where you make $3 for every $1 spent on marketing and you make sure to measure EVERYTHING about your audience, so next time you can improve and optimize your future campaings

The direct response marketer uses different psychological and/or emotional triggers, to create urgency and filters people towards a CTA or call-to-action. See the ad I posted below...

You will especially see this in the "guru" niche, where the so called "marketing expert" tries to pitch one of these classic techniques by selling it as their "secret strategy" that no one knows about.

The problem with that is, is that there are no secrets in marketing... They've all been revealed by the real marketing experts over that past years.

You just have to study them.

The same core principles have stood the test of time, and STILL work!!!

You can learn them fairly easily too. Just grab a few books on A) direct response marketing, B) sales, and C) copy writing.

By following the same 3-book principle I mentioned in the previous post, you can gain more knowledge about direct response marketing, than you probably thought was even possible!

How these marketers make it look so easy to get people to take action by using just words.
