Sometimes It's a Hard Decision...

Sometimes creating art isn't the hard part. Choosing which version to keep (and use) is.

Several years ago, I visited South Dakota for the first time. One of the highlights of that trip was seeing Badlands National Park. As I stood at one of the overlooks, I was completely awed by the vastness of the landscape.

I'm an avid reader, and I've spent many hours lost in the Western novels of Zane Grey. Long before I ever saw the Badlands in person, I had explored them through his stories. Standing there that day, looking across those rugged formations, I finally understood the beauty he had described so vividly. It was one of those moments that has stayed with me ever since.

I took several photographs and tucked them away in my photo collection.

Recently, as I've been creating more products for my print-on-demand store—especially my Fine Art Gallery Wrapped Canvas collection—I began searching through my old photographs for inspiration. When I came across those Badlands images, all those memories came rushing back.

I've been experimenting with the new Kre8or image generator in combination with ChatGPT. My workflow is pretty simple: I upload one of my own photographs to Kre8or, then work with ChatGPT to develop a detailed artistic prompt. Once Kre8or creates an image, I bring it back to ChatGPT, where we critique it together and discuss what could make it an even stronger fine art piece. After a few remixes, the artwork gradually evolves.

For this project, I told ChatGPT not only about my memories of the Badlands and my love of Zane Grey's novels, but also about another chapter of my life.

I've loved horses since I was a little girl. While my husband and I were dating, we spent several years trail riding at a local stable, often riding several times each week. Those are some wonderful memories.

So we decided to include a lone woman on horseback—not as the subject of the painting, but as a quiet way to show the immense scale of the Badlands while also adding a personal connection to the artwork.

Since my original photograph was taken under bright midday light, we transformed it into a dramatic late-afternoon scene with warm golden light, long shadows, and a sky full of glowing clouds.

Along the way, ChatGPT even created its own interpretation for comparison.

After several remixes in Kre8or, I now have three Kre8or versions plus some of ChatGPT versions.

And that's where I need your help.

Which one would you choose for a gallery-wrapped canvas?
