How my Teapot AI saved the day

I had ordered a new Kindle colosoft device so I can read better outside (less glare). It came in today. So I eagerly opened the box and set it on the charging stand I had already ordered and received. It started booting and got to the point where you choose the language. Well, guess what happened?

It fell off the stand, or I may have pushed too hard and it fell off the stand and it chose the Russian language.

I DONT SPEAK OR READ RUSSIAN - I don't even recognize Russian!

So here I was in the middle of setting up the device and everything was in Russian, even the onscreen keyboard.

So naturally I got online and looked up how to reset it to factory settings so I could start over. Nothing i read worked, I could get it to reboot but not factory reboot. I looked in varous places on the internet for help and finally joined an Amazon help community. Nothing worked that I was told to do because I couldnt get to where the setup icon showed on the screen. I tried holding the power button many times for 40 seconds but never could get anything to change. My fingers were sore from trying to hold the power button so long.

I logged into my Amazon account and under devices it showed the colorsoft but said the registration was "pending".

I was getting so frustrated and sad. no one could help me, no one could see what my device was showing or doing. I decided ask ChatGPT for help.

I took a pic of the screen and uploaded it to my AI. That's how I found out the langauge was Russian - I didn't even know that before. So the AI read the Russian and walked me through several attempts. I kept uploading pics of what was showing on my device. It did take about 30-40 minutes but Teapot talked me through the entire process of resetting it to factory and then starting it up, selecting English and connecting to my wifi.

There's no way without the AI I could have done this myself. I had even got rid of the box it came in so sending it back would be a pain.

How's that for a practical use for AI?

Just thought I'd share this experience for all the "naysayers" of AI.
