After 5 years at WA - will I quit?

This is my 5th year here at WA and I still haven't reached my financial goals. I pay for my WA fees with just a little more earned. I'm 65 and do I continue or give up? I had really hoped that 2018 would be my year but alas, not!

I've learned so much in the years I've been here and actually had a lot of fun doing so. I have created several cool blogsites and love using the WordPress tools to create them.

My failure has been my own fault because I have not created enough posts for my sites. And lately, I'm finding myself with a bad case of writers block when wanting to create for my BootCamp site. I've looked into outsourcing posts but really can't afford it.

I was really happy to get my first Premium referrals for WA in 2018, but still not very many or enough to create a cool passive monthly income.

So I need to decide whether to stick it out or not

PRO

  1. If I quit, I will no longer stress on creating content
  2. If I quit I will save on my WA dues and all the the domain renewals.
  3. If I quit, I will not have to sit in this chair at my computer so much and that would help my back and hips.
  4. My husband would be happy with me since he doesn't believe in what I'm doing.

CON

  1. If I quit, I certainly will not achieve my goals which might eventually be reached if I keep at it.
  2. If I quit, I let down my current customers/friends whose sites I"m hosting.
  3. If I quit, I let down my referrals who I really want to help.
  4. If I quit, I will stop learning and I love to learn new things
  5. If I quit, what will I do with my time? I can read books only so many hours.
  6. If I quit, my dream dies.
  7. If I quit, I think my personal self worth will diminish and I may not like myself.
  8. If I quit, the $ I have been making will go away.
  9. If I quit, I will miss the WA community a lot
  10. If I quit, I will feel I've let Kyle and Carson down too - I truly appreciate their mentorship and this wonderful place.

So there. Looks like the CONs outweigh the PRO's of quitting. So I'm hanging around and hopefully 2019 will be my year. I really hope to get in the SWAG group again and learn more, especially how to break this writer's block. Since I'm breaking even I'm pretty much out my time only. I NEED to keep using my mind and feel good about myself, so I'm sticking with WA for now, as long as my health allows. I would really LOVE to be going to La Vegas next time. I've been there before but I think it would be a real fun thing to be with Kyle, Carson and the SWAG group. My hubby would even go and enjoy it for a change - since before he was always attending a brokers convention and didn't go for fun!

- Have you written your own PROS AND CONS? What have I left out?

UPDATE!

I just wanted to tell everyone that I created this blog post a little tongue-in-cheek since it was going to be April Fool's Day today and I was really curious to see what pros and cons others might have for staying or leaving WA.

Actually I have never had any intention of leaving WA. I love the training, the hosting, the tools, the community. I will leave when my cold, dead body is headed for the morgue. I'm looking forward to seeing all you guys around the WA community for many years to come.

Best wishes on your online efforts.

Sdawson,
I want t call attention to your statement " pay for my WA fees with just a little more earned."
You are doing better than most here in WA, so I would consider you kind of a success .

You just have to find a way to scale it up.
I think you should stay ,you have shown you can do this.

indeed

Don't quit I joined a while ago and so many things have stopped me from continuing, now as I am doing the necessary actions for my own growth it's imperative that I do it. Just Over Broke is getting to be tedious and financially boring so please stay as I could use some guidance myself.Oh I did the pros and cons thing I tore it up and put it in the shredder. Be blessed

Hi Shirey,
I can relate to so many of your PROS and CONS and I’m at almost 4 months since signing up Premiun.
Part of my issue is I don’t want to be in your situation in 5 years.
Quitting at this point is not an option I hope for you or me!

Reflecting... this is definitely one of my ultimate favorite jobs I’ve ever had. My dream is to do it full time and give up my full time 8-4 job.

My dilemma is I chose a niche in health and wellness and I just became aware that Google is changing its algorithms and these types of sites will more than likely take a hit in organic traffic.

Being that I have very little organic traffic since my site is so new I can’t tell how my site is being affected right now.

Anyway, long story short...

Change is sometimes a good thing. I may need to change my niche but that’s ok.

You may find you need to make changes too. But we have the tools, training and experience to make good things happen!

As you said the training here is awesome!

Wishing you success!

2019 is sure to be your year once you kick the writer's block. I have faced a similar challenge since I parted with my writing client and then caught a respiratory bug in January. I can not wrap my head around my own projects so I eliminated 3 blogs, have only 4 domain names left and 2 are not developed yet. I am focusing 100% on my affiliate marketing blog and looks like I have a couple of articles finally nearing ready to post. I haven't blogged on this site since January 1st but have always planned on it being my primary site.

Hang in there as you have done good and great is a couple of pick swings away.

Choose one site and focus on it, Shirley. Spreading yourself too thin isn't going to work. Go to youtube for content ideas. Read through old posts for content ideas. Go to competing sites for ideas.
Example on youtube you see a video you're interested in. Embed it on your site and write around it.

Shirley, I'm glad you are staying, Normally when we do Pro's and
Con's about something if we have too many Con's we don't do it. Interesting, the Con's win this time and you will keep going. The biggest thing you would let down by quitting is YOURSELF.

I'm glad you're staying
Cal

Hi Shirley

I can see that you have a lot of support here and some really good advice.

I would say think of your why you started in the first place.

Like mentioned think a another niche and make it a fun one that you can add products to.

But I would say NEVER GIVE UP because you really do not know what is ahead of you and your current websites may well bear you good fruit.

Another thing I would say is that although it may be difficult because you mentioned that your husband does not really believe in what you are doing.

You really need to do what you love and what makes you happy.

Just a thought

All the best in whatever you decide.

Jennifer

Period like this that you are going true is not as easy to be answered or even to find a quick solution in your own Mind.

I just will try to go back in time and get back those feelings when first did join in and the real reason behind that, distance my self for a brief period from the internet altogether and go for a long walk, try to meditate to regain the focus and excitement, create a completely new Niche were I can have new Mind stimulation were new excitement flow true me, try to find some good affiliate that pays good commission that works in tandem with my blogs and inserts their links in the daily writings/post/blogs, create a Niche to involve in it a passion of my partner ......so may it's more fun.

I m only speak my mind here to see you not to give up because I know the after feeling is not so well taken by our subconscious which my it's harder to take in! I leave you with some well-known phrases:
Where there s a will there s a way.
Let s go there s 50 doors and 50 Gates on the way also there s guards and dogs and many obstacles,,,,,,, so now after we overcome the majority of them and we are on the last few Gates before we do achieve our freedom, would you now stop and say to me it was very hard for me to get here and I'm really tired and no more forces in me to keep going so I will go back ! that s the real deal now that s the main question!

Wish you to find that power within you that make s you go straight ahead and be Victorious in gaining that FREEDOM with SUCCESS!
I m sure it will not fare away for you NOW!
have a good Week
:0)

Shirley, when I read your lists; it sounds pretty obvious that you should stay. If you were lots of money, that would be a different issue.

Consider at least doing some keyword research for another niche site. Maybe that would give you mental break from the MMO site. (I love keyword research almost more than I enjoy writing.)

You need to do something to get up out of that chair more so that you back and hips are not hurting so much.

Just last week, I discovered my chair was causing me issues also. I moved my computer to a bar so that I had to stand more. It helped a lot.

Thank you for being an inspirational. I hope that you have a wonderful week.

Good advice but the part about the chair. I’m in a wheelchair most of the time. Because of degenerative discs. The rest of the time I spend in my recliner or my bed. Maybe I’ll try using my notebook and doing some research in my recliner.

Shirley,

I am so sorry about the bad advise with regards to the chair. I hope that you can find a way to get rid of some of the pain from sitting in one spot so long.

The notebook idea might work. The important thing is to find some way to move around and change position periodically.

I hope that 2019 is going to be your year!

Hey Shirley!

Read and re-read MForstner's reply...He hit the nail right on the head.

You've got to stretch yourself...If your goals are always reachable, if you don't challenge yourself, WA will turn into a routine and a part time job of sorts, and I'm sure that's not what you want.

In your list of reasons why you should not quit, #6 Is the most profound to me - you said:

"6. If I quit, my dream dies..."

I couldn't have said it better myself - you are 100% correct.

However, reading your post, I think you've answered your own question.

Frankly, I think you'll be just fine.

Why do I say that?

Because by reading your post, I can tell you are a person who THINK things through.

You've outlined very nicely why you should not quit. I can honestly say that you are in good company.

Consider these few examples of people, like you, who were faced with the prospect of quitting at some point in their lives:

Colonel Sanders:

People know him because of his iconic white suit and bow tie. Colonel Sanders was the founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC).

In fact, it wasn’t until the age of 62 that he set out with a $105 social security check in hand to pitch his chicken recipe to restaurants.

1,009 folks told him he was crazy, but he didn’t give up.

Thomas Edison:

Edison failed over 10,000 times to invent a commercially viable electric lightbulb, but he didn’t give up.

When asked by a newspaper reporter if he felt like a failure and if he should give up, after having gone through over 9,000 failed attempts, Edison simply stated “Why would I feel like a failure?

And why would I ever give up? I now know definitely over 9,000 ways an electric lightbulb will not work. Success is almost in my grasp.”

Walt Disney:

Disney was once considered a failure. Disney was fired by the editor in 1919 from his job at the Kansas City Star paper because he “lacked imagination and had no good ideas.”

Disney’s first go at business landed in bankruptcy when he acquired an animation studio by the name of Laugh-O-Gram.

Michael Jordan:

"I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career.

I've lost almost 300 games.

26 times, I've been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed.

I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed."

I could go on and on and on...but you get the point!

Just remember #6:

"If I quit, my dream dies..."

Profound...

You Can Do This!

Talk Soon,
Howard

So true. They didn’t quit and I won’t either.
