Research Part Two.
In my research here is what I found out, Pandas & Penguins were both google algorithm updates that still looked at the content quality, the number and quality of back links and keyword optimization.
These sites as well as all the sites I built after about 2007 or 2008 were all constructed the same way, I researched 5 related keyword phrases and created a page on the site for each phrase making sure the title of that page was optimized for that phrase and all content was original and answer a question related to that page.
Over the next 8 weeks I would add a total of 10 original posts to each page with related keywords now keep in mind the pages and post I made answer questions about a problem related to the key word phrase with only one inline link per page or post with a banner down the right side of the page, this gave each site a total of 50 posts after that I would try and add 2 post a month after a few months if the site was getting traffic but no sales I turned it into an adsense site.
Ok so that's all good and well but that does not explain why they kept making money, I was still at a loss then I found information about Hummingbird googles new search engine algorithm and the information I was reading talked about how Hummingbird was trying to bridge the gap between searches and social media like Facebook and Twitter where people are using the phrases in real world conversations.
Bingo! I always created a Twitter account for each of my sites to create back links and I would use a plug-in that would automatically post to Twitter in my bio I offer a free PDF that I would create out of the articles from my site with back links, I also put the PDF's on free download sites.
I signed into Twitter and found over 9,000 followers for each of the sites, my guess is the PDF's from Twitter and the other download sites were getting back links long after I stop updating the sites plus the pages and post gave good free quality information with a very soft sell.
The bottom line using good research I was able to give google what their searchers were looking for.
Now the more I look into Hummingbird it looks like we need to not only have quality content and back linking but take a closer look at what Hummingbird now finds to be the right content, keywords and phrases and how their used in our content .
I was looking at a post asking to review a site, someone gave the site a review and then asked why anyone would buy an Amazon product off that site when they could just go to Amazon and by it. First mistake both made was jumping in without proper research it is possible to make good money selling Amazon products if you take the time to research first. Amazon is the largest online retailer in the world and the masses trust them, just to give an idea on how one might go about setting up a proper Amazon review site might look something like this.
1.Go to Amazon pick a product or just look at all the departments I would want something in the $100.00 or more range.
2.Find a category you like then do a search for the best sellers
3.I would like at least 4 or 5 different brands
4.Then build your site around the product not anyone brand
5.Create a page for each brand listing all the things it does.
6.Now start adding the things people like and dislike as post and in the post you point out one of the other brands that fixing a dislike.
Now keep in mind there could be other models for each brand so you could have an endless supply of information to post. At this point most markets would stop their research but there is much more you need to know, the people trust Amazon not 3rd parties as much so you would do better with product that Amazon is the seller also if the product marked Prime that is even better means free shipping for Prime members, if you can’t find something sold by Amazon then the next best is an FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) product.
If you take your time and do proper research and provided quality content you will make money.
