"Are We Having Fun Yet, Or What.?"

Hey everyone,

I'd like to start out by saying that this has been BY FAR the warmest, most genuine welcome I've ever received in any online community, and it speaks volumes to me as to the quality of the owners as well as the engagement level of it's members. I feel fortunate to be here, and I look forward to getting to know many of you better as time goes on.

I've been in online marketing for about six months promoting a higher-ticket offer, which I won't name here, and in the process have come to realize just how completely inundated a person can become trying to navigate through it all. Every day something new comes along, and for a while my brain was in constant overload trying to pull everything together in a way where I could even start to make some sense of it all (to be honest I'm still there somewhat, but it is getting better....). In fairness I have to say that a lot of this was my fault; unfortunately I'm easily distracted by shiny objects, which makes it extremely difficult to stay focused. I'm sure that's why so many become discouraged and give up on this business, but fortunately I also came into all this with one advantage....a very real understanding, based on many past experiences, that things almost never happen the way we think they will, or when we want them to. The only real answer I have for this, which has served me well (when I was willing to see and practice it), is that it is by our persistence and determination to move forward that we win our race. This is true in business, and in life. The Rolling Stones said it perfectly:

"You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you get what you need...."

The best things that ever happened to me came when I stopped thinking about what I thought I wanted, and started looking for what I needed, and applied myself to those things. When I did that, and found myself making progress in the places that really mattered, I discovered something much greater than anything I'd imagined; a deep, satisfying sense of fulfillment that doesn't fade or tarnish with time or circumstances. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

I think we all want to be above where we are, in some way or another. By testing out our character in this way, we develop something that almost no one possesses anymore; integrity of being. If we have this working in us, then everything we do has meaning to us, regardless if anyone else sees it or not.

And all this from someone who just got here! Who's this guy?

Well, the answer is, nobody really. I love to write, to tell my stories, and to give something of the things I've learned to anyone who wants (or needs) to hear them. If this is you, you've made my day. You're a big part of the reason I spend my time doing this.

Again, it's great to be here. I'll check in as often as I'm able, and I'll try to respond to any comments as my (very limited) time permits. Good luck to you all!

Take care,

Scott

Yes, I think all of us are sometimes attracted to shiny objects, but we discover what is really important in life as we navigate this maze. Welcome

Thanks Pablo. And you're right. We all want to make a living and do well for ourselves, but if that's all a person cares about then they're missing out, big time. I appreciate the response...it always means a lot when someone "gets it".
Just curious, what are you into marketing-wise, and how long have you been at it?

Take care,

Scott

I have been at WA for just shy of two months. I am a retired obstetrician, and I have not had any type of internet marketing experience until now. I am mostly interested in health related topics such as obesity. How about yourself? What are you interested in? Have you had internet marketing experience previously?

I got started in full swing with another company about three months ago, but I'm still learning basic stuff related to e-mail marketing , auto-responders, running solo ads, etc. So far I've only promoted my "other" offer, but it is a high-ticket (expensive...) proposition and not for everyone, as I'm finding out. I came to WA after basically stumbling across it while checking out different companies and their offers. I'd been looking for something affordable for the average person, legit, with a business model that isn't solely dependent on marketing only that particular company's products, but with the option of an affiliate program, which WA has. Very straightforward, simple, and generous commissions. So far I like what I'm seeing here.

My interests are varied, but as far as promoting products I've seen some good stuff that I want to look into; marketing software and tools (the same "shiny objects" we discussed earlier), although I want to be careful, because what's good today may very well be obsolete next month. There are a lot of talented developers out there always gunning to come out with the next big "solution".
Also, there's a HUGE market in preparedness these days (equipment, food storage, training, etc.) and I don't see that going away anytime soon. I've had some experience in that area; a lot of the offers I see are either just recycled crap passing for "training" or cheap junk equipment made overseas (mostly in China). I actually have a decent list of superior products and vendors that I know of and would have no qualms whatsoever in promoting their products, depending on their licensing requirements. I'll have to investigate that further.
The main goal is monetizing somehow, but doing it in the right way. I haven't quite found that yet, but I think I'm getting warmer....

Sorry for the LONG answer. Take care,

Scott

Nice post Scott. Welcome to the community and, yes, we too get caught up in "shiny object syndrome" on occasion! Maybe you can help us all stay focused, lol.

Blessings,
Debby

Hi Debby,
Thanks for the response. It's funny; talking about shiny objects, I just got an offer for a pretty slick software product that I'm considering to cut down on my posting time. It never ends, does it? Nowadays though I stop and think it over for a couple of days before I dive in (it all gets very expensive after awhile....); trying to stay focused on what I AM doing instead of spending so much time thinking about what I MIGHT be doing two months, or a year, from now.
Anyway, what about you? How long have you been doing this "internet marketing thing" and what types of projects are you working on? I'd like to hear about it....

Take care,
Scott

I've been a member here for 2 years but really inactive for about a year. I have one domain and 2 site rubix sites that I'm playing with to learn how to do things. Going through boot camp right now as a review to get back into the swing of things.
