Updates and Questions

I've been keeping busy so I've haven't had a much of a chance to do much work on my website here. Due to the amount of things I've been working on lately, I decided to stop premium membership for now since I've not been able to dedicate as much time as I thought. I still plan on working on my site when I get a chance so you'll still see me around from time to time.

Since updating my last post, I've been rethinking the entire site I was building. My current site was based on craft kits, but now I'm rethinking my original website. I still plan on reviewing needlecraft kits, but I am thinking if I should be even more specific about my niche. My plan is to revisit some of the previous lessons to re-think my site and what I want to do.

The reason I'm thinking about this is that I've been asked to review a craft kit for one of the craft kit companies. The company makes a variety of craft kits and earlier this year they asked me to review one of the newest holiday kits. A couple weeks ago, they said I could review more kits for them and I can pick as many kits as I want to do. I already review craft kits on my personal blog and they are a very popular topic where most of my comments are from.

The craft kits I review are free from the company and there aren't any requirements on what I need to write about. All I need to do is just write up a review and send it to one of their communications representative to show I wrote a review. The catch is I don't get paid to to review these kits. I've talked to a few people and they think I should do only one more free kit for the company for free then start asking if I get paid to write reviews for them since these craft kits take lots of time to make.

I'm not sure what to do. Although I don't get paid for doing any of their craft kits, I like the idea of the craft kit company giving as many kits as I want to do for free. This way I can focus on just writing reviews on these kits and posting pictures of my progress on social media. I've seen other people on YouTube and blogs who get things from a company for free to review and promote. A few of the channels I follow on YouTube get early access or free copies of different products. They then later talk about the products in videos or blog posts where they either do a play through or a review.

What would you do if you were in this situation? Right now, I just make craft kits and write up reviews then use Amazon affiliate links on my page. So far I've had more people clicking my links with everything I've learned in WA so far, but no one has purchased anything. Any tips would be helpful.

Do you get an affiliate association with this company?

Ask for that first; if you are successful reviewing and helping others find the happiness they need, maybe the sales of the kits you review (PLUS more that you will want to do, as well!), you could roll that over into getting paid some, as well!

If the companies are providing you with free craft kits you are kind of getting paid equal to the amount of money you would have had to pay to purchase these products for review. Plus I would imagine the amount of money that you can get paid in commission would be many times more what the craft kit companies would be able to pay you.
