Are You Setting Goals or Just Making Resolutions?
One of the rituals that many people do each year is to set a New Year's Resolution. Some make it through the year achieving their resolutions, while most do not. Why is that? I believe it is because those who do make it through are actually setting goals, not making resolutions.
What makes a goal different than a resolution? For one thing, resolutions are more of a wishlist that people think of for a day or a week or so, then toss aside. Goals are clearly defined instructions that you give to your mind with a map drawn by you to get you to the place you want to be. You also have to put in place a management system to keep you on track and a support system of people to motivate and encourage you along the way.
Once your instructional goals are written and your map drawn, then you can proceed to the management and support systems. Now, tell me I am not CRAZY when I say that Wealthy Affiliate is our management and support system. I have written a post on my website that addresses this idea. The post is about goal setting, and I reference and give credit to Darren Hardy (one of my new favorite authors) for the big ideas in the post, but I end with taking people to my Wealthy Affiliate "Get Started" link to see how they can be among the 3% of super achievers who get the support and reinforcement they need each and every day as we do here at Wealthy Affiliate. Having a vision with goals sets a clear path to follow.
Enforcing it by writing it down reinforces the goal.
You have a nice Website, keep working it.
Thanks! I will follow up with you, too.
