Motivationis a pleasurable internal drive that pushes us into action. It is what causes us to act on something and at the same time, derive joy from doing it. That’s why motivated people get more done than non-motivated people. Motivated people do inspired actions, they feel a rush that makes them act now; while non-motivated usually do things because they have to do it.

Even though motivation is an internal drive, it is triggered by our perception of outside sources. Its origin comes from external goals we want to achieve. The idea of achieving something we value, pushes us into action. That’s why motivation is so vital in our recipe for success.

Notice that motivation starts with expectation, with our attitude. And that’s a good thing because we can use self motivation at any time by creating a positive mental attitude of what we need to accomplish.Expect the best in any project that you need to do and you will automatically start feeling good about it and your whole attitude changes.

Therefore, motivation and positive mental attitude happen simultaneously, and this is good to know.

Why is that?

Because our attitude depends on the type of thoughts we’re holding in any given moment, we are in complete control of the kind of thoughts we dwell on.

That means, if we expect a positive outcome of whatever situation we are in, we will have a positive mental attitude about the outcome and that will motivate us to take action.

If the right expectation motivates us to take action, then we can easily motivate ourselves by the kind of expectation we hold in our mind.

And this is very important in my opinion, because human nature tends to lay back and procrastinate unless the activity is somewhat pleasurable.

People are different and so are their motivations. What motivates us depends on many factors; however, our internal values play a very important role on what drives us to action. External events or circumstances are only what trigger the feelings that are inside us.

Take money for example. Some people believe that they are motivated by money, but a deep analysis will reveal that money is only a vehicle to achieve some personal values. If you care for your family, for example, you will be motivated by money because money can help you provide for your family.

Many others are motivated by the desire to be the best. The idea of being number one at work or at any other competitive environment, pushes them to act accordingly.

Altruism is another powerful motivator. The desire to help others will keep us motivated to perform in order to help other people.

There are many internal values that motivate us to push and keep pushing in life. But we have to nurture them. If you are not feeding these internal impulses, they tend to fade away and the motivation will not longer be there.

The easy and best way to stay motivated in whatever goal you want to achieve is to remind yourself constantly of the many reasons why you want to do it. Visualize the outcome of your actions.

This is self-motivation.

Any task that you need to do, think, at least, of five good reasons why you want or need to do it. Live in your imagination the final productof your action now, and you will create a positive expectation, a positive mental attitude which in turn will bring that pleasurable rush for action called motivation.

Simply put...

...Keepyour eyes on the price!!

All the best.
