When I first started noticing trends, I actually didn't know they had a lifecyle. I used to think that something either blew up or it didn't - but now I see that every trend moves through clear stages, and understanding that had completly changed how I approach content.
At the beginning, there is that hidden gem phase. This phase happens when only a small group of creators are using a sound, a format or an idea. I have found this stage the most exciting, because it feels like discovering something before everyone else does. If I jump in here, my ocntent often feels fresh and original.
Then comes the growth phase. This is when the trend starts gaining traction-more creators pick it up, and it begins appearing on more feeds. Personally this is where I see the most potential. The trend is still rising, but not yet saturated, which gives me a chance to reach a wider audience while still standing out.

After that, we hit the peak. At this stage the trend is everywhere. While it still can bring visiblity, I have noticed that it becomes harder to be unique unless I have added a really strong personal twist. This is where creativity matters the most.
Finally there is the overdone phase. This is when the trend starts to feel repetitive, and the audiences slowly lose interest. I have learned that jumping in too late can actually hurt engagement, because people are ready for something new.
Understanding this cycle has helped me be more intentional with my timing. Instead of chasing every trend, I focus on when and how I participate. At the end of the day, it's not just about joining trends - it's about catching them at the right moment and making them my own
