Social Media Marketing Tip of the Day: Stop Copying another creators content and claiming it as you

I have noticed something in social media marketing that honestly doesn't get called out enough, especially on TikTok. A lot of content creators aren't really creating anymore. They're copying. Same formats, same facial expressions, same pacing, same "relatable" setups . just filtered through a different face and posted as if it's original. And because it performs , people pretend it's not happening.

When I scroll through Gen Z and Gen Alpha content, creators like Brooke Monk and Natalie Reynolds stand out to me not because their content is wildly different, but because it's almost interchangable. The structure feels identical. The delivery feels rehearsed in the same way. It's not one or two videos that overlap. It's an entire content syle built of a formula that's already been proven by someone else. At that point, it stops feeling like inspiration and starts feeling like repetition with good lighting.

From a social media marketing perspective, this is where things get lazy. TikTok rewards familiarity , so creators learn quickly that copying what already works is safer than experimenting. But the problem is, when everyone uses the same blueprint, nobody actually builds a brand . You build views sure, but not identity. And without identity, you're replacable the second the algorithm finds someone newer, younfer, or slightly more polished doing the same thing.

What frustrates me most is that audiences can feel this, even if they don't conciously name it. The content becomes forgettable. You scroll, you laugh, you move on. There is no voice attached to it, no point of view that sticks. The creators who rely heavily on borrowed formats rarely evolve, because they never had to think deeply about what makes their content theirs in the first place.

I am not saying trends are bad. Trends are part of the game. But real creators take a trend and bend it to their personality, their humour, their experiences. They add something. When content is just recycled with no transformation, it's not creative strategy , it's convienience. And in the long run, convienience doesn't build trust, longevity or influence. It just fills the feed untol something louder replaces it
