Nothing in Marketing Is Random — And That Changes How I Create

There was a time I thought content just happened.
You post something , if it does well - it does well.
If it doesn't- you try again and again.
It felt unpredictable.
But after studying marketing, especially during my postgraduate diploma in 2021-2022 , that mindset completely changed.
Now I don't see marketing as random at all.
I see structure behind it .
What looks effortless is usually built with purpose
- the first 2 seconds of a video
- the way a caption is written
- the order information is revealed
Nothing is really accidental.
Even if it feels natural , there is usually a reason behind it.
When I create now, I don't just ask myself what I should post.
I ask the following:
- what is this meant to do?
- who is it for?
- what stage of attention is it targeting?
Because every piece of content has a role.

Some are meant to attract
Some are meant to build trust
Some are meant to convert.
One of the biggest shifts for me was realising how repeatable marketing actually is.
You start to realise:
- similar hooks across different creators
- repeated emotional triggers
- formats that consistently perform
At first it feels like a coincidence
Then it doesn't
I used to think creativity was the main thing.
Now I see it differently.
Creativity works best when it’s guided by structure:
- audience understanding
- positioning
- behavioural patterns
That’s where the real effectiveness comes from.
Things repeating online used to feel unoriginal to me.
Now I understand it differently.
Repetition:
- builds familiarity
- reinforces messaging
- strengthens recognition over time
It’s not about saying something once.
It’s about making it stick.
Now when I create content, I’m not guessing.
I’m observing:
- what works and why
- what people respond to and why
- what role each piece plays
Because once you see that nothing is random…
You stop creating randomly too.
