This is the beginning of my path to self-employment. I love having the freedom to be at home with my family but I'm not a big fan of having to watch our checkbook so closely. So my husband and I decided that we needed to increase our income. He already works long hours at a job he loves, so I want to step up and help out. But I've discovered that fluorescent lights and 8-5 with a one hour lunch break are bad for my health. ;-)
I love to write, but I've rarely done it for an audience. I never thought I had anything to say. This is where learning about the niches has been incredibly helpful. It almost seems to good to be true that I could earn money by continuing to learn and write about the things that I'm most interested in. Left to my own devices, there's no way that I would ever think I would be capable of this. And that's exactly why I upgraded to the Premium Membership. On my own, I'd be too overwhelmed to know where to begin. So I wouldn't. But with the support of a community that's already "been there, done that," I feel confident that this is not just a pipe dream, but a real possibility.
I'm anticipating a few months of work before seeing a return on my efforts. But three months of hard work is worth the opportunity to support my family WHILE pursuing my passions.

Hey Sara, good to meet you. I like your post here. Alma and I have struggled through the last 23 years trying meet our family budget. I have a decent wage, but as an information technology specialist working in government in the state of Washington, you can only go so far in what you can make economically. The competition for the next higher position is fierce.
Alma just started receiving her retirement from the state of Oregon which has helped a great deal towards the family budget. Anyway, I am glad your husband has a job he loves. You have found the right place here at WA for the business you will build and fulfill your passions and dreams in! I am excited for you, this community and my family as well!
In struggling over the last 10 to 15 years trying to find a community like this to be a part of, I have spent too much money and energy spinning my wheels in trying to fulfill my dreams of one day working from home and spending more time with my family!
