Hi guys,

I'm still thinking over my niche. I love to travel as do most people so it's something I will always do, along with photography. I know travel is probably a difficu

Wow!.. I've been thinking about it but didn't know where to start. I love to travel and I used to be a travel agent..this info is very important..I'll do some research. Thanks a lot Sade and Kathy

You may want to try using this technique that Kyle explains: You may need focus down on maybe "travel" + "photography" + this technique that Kyle outlines and see does anything 'pop out'.

You may have some brilliant pictures of some places you have been, and be able to create great content based on that, and be able to have travel related (airlines, car-hire, hotels) and photography (good cameras to take with you when you travel) related affiliate links based on that.

You may need to narrow your area of interest in travel a bit

To go on a journey you need a destination, ask - What value can I add to people who love to travel

Barry

There are a few members here with travel sites, I can remember 2 off the top of my head,
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/jasontw111, this is his site http://whatisinireland.com/
and Ian https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/imc
They have both picked a specific area to focus on and I know there are affiliate programmes for hotels bookings, air flights, car hire etc

I just checked out Jason and Ian's website, how cool! Thanks Kathy, that's given me a new way to look at it. :-)

You're welcome. :)

Since 'travel' is such a broad area; why don't you research which areas would be the most beneficial to you and focus on those particular areas?

Tha'ts a good point Rosie I will. I didn't think there was a way of doing it but Kathy also pointed out how other WA members have picked their niche, Thanks!

this could be a lifestyle niche.. you could promote any product that you use to make travel more manageable. From footwear right through to travel packages..

That's true, travel accessories! Ta!

I just wanted to read some experiences on WA.. are there many people that earn a full time livingthrough their own WA websites. I feel the positive vibes and the ((((love))) but re

Thanks guys!

Click search bar and click success, the drop down menu will drop down and you will see all the stories, good luck and hope you love WA as much as I do regards Vicky

Thanks Vicki!

No problem

The bar is the search bar, the same bar that you asked this question, type in success and a drop down menu will fall allowing you to read the success stories. That applies also to any question you need an answer to. Not telling you this to stop you asking questions, but so you will be more familiar with this site
Catherine

Hi sade you can find it here, click on the "Success" tab above in the bar and you can read them :-)

Hi All..
My niche idea started out being all about natural skin care as its one of my interests. However, after a little reflection and brain storming, I'm not sure if I would s

I wouldn't think so, the thing about having a niche is to expand and make it broad as you can to cover areas people never think of. It could potentially open the eyes of a person that wants to learn how to take care of their skin, and feel great while doing it! I think you're on to something, indulge in your niche and people will follow you!

Thanks Lamont. I'm drawn to the subject at the moment so will try to figure out how I can go about it to make it manageable. I like that, indulge in your niche and people will follow...I believe that!

Only way to go!

I personally think it is a broad niche though can eventually make a great idea for an authority site. If your only concern is the skin aspect maybe choose a great domain name that could eventually be used for the all in one idea and just expand. Starting small and focusing on one subject will help bring in readers who are interested in what your site says instead of bouncing all around right off the bat. Then as that subject fills out or you become bored expand to the next part like at home pedis manis stress reducer etc etc. Hope that made sense.

While you can always start off large it does tend to take longer in my experience to get visitors who don't instantly bounce off your page to a different site. Though many people have their own opinions on this.

I should say though that I have both types and have started out both ways. I have one that was pretty vague and all the posts are about the main subject but don't necessarily relate to each other in any way shape or form and another that is very niche focused (they both make money)

I just think smaller and up is easier especially if you are just starting.

Jean

Thanks for the helpful and fast reply Jean. One the one hand, I know I get bored quickly and on other, I don't want to be too overwhelmed either. Damn, didn't Kyle say don't over complicate it!? :-)
I guess that's what I had in mind like you mentioned an authority type site that is all about tranquil indulgence. Hmm...I shall explore more, see how I could narrow it down more. Maybe focusing on facials would be a good starting point and keep me motivated or simply spa treatments.
Just out of interest, which site of yours were you referring to? Thanks again.

I've notice some WA members have one link on really great looking websites? Is that enough to create an income? I assumed you would need a few related links but not flood the pa

If you are talking about an in depth product review, you can have 3-4 links to the same product, but no more as Google might then see it as spam.

Exactly, do what is tasteful. There is no REAL magic number, but you can absolutely have more than one affiliate link on a page if it is a product review and it is thorough.

I have pages with 8-9, but it is when you get into the habit of putting affiliate links on every page that you run into issues. I personally try to centralize all affiliate links.

Post => Centralized Review => Affiliate Links

vs.

Every Post => Affiliate Links

Hope this helps.

I believe it's been recommended that no more than two links per page and that's what I have so we will see how it goes. Good luck!

It may be that they are trying tho build an audience without scaring them of with too many ads.....

Also, this is great information worth reading:

Thank you for link MarineMom, will have a look.

One to 3 affiliate links is good 10 or more is not. If the page is going to compare 3 or more products with affiliate links to each be sure to use the no follow tag on each of the affiliate links so the search spiders don't penalize you for the excess use of paid links. There are plugins to handle this for you that allow you to check a box when adding the link that ads this piece of html code.

Alternately a link in HTML view will look like:
Wealthy Affiliate

You can change that to :
Wealthy Affiliate

To keep this link from being followed and indexed or otherwise paid attention to.

OK that didn't work it won't show the codes in my answer but manual instructions can be found on YouTube, or DynamicDrive.com or even searchengineland.com

Thanks! Very informative answer. I'll check out those links

You have to be careful. Google Webmaster Tools looks unfavorably on affiliate sites that don't, in their opinion and their opinion only, add value to site visitors. Meaning, why should someone come to your site instead of directly to the retailer's site? Make sense? You want to blend products in with your content with the emphasis on your content AND use keywords to get ranked with. You can research keywords to be used within your site thru the Keyword tool included or better yet thru Jaaxy (has free membership and premium (pay)).

Thanks for the useful advice, I'm learning each more each day. I forgot about keywords!
