About Me?

Once upon a time, back in the year 1996, there was this 42 year old retired trucker who spent over half of his life out on the open road hauling everything from soup to nuts. Many a time, he remembers, the lonely nights he wished he was home, all cozy and comfortable enjoying his wife's company and the pleasure of just being home. Home Sweet Home!

It can be a tough way to make a living and I understand that. Then again, life truly is what you make it. Trucking has it's up's and down's, and pro's and con's like anything else, but usually there are options, long haul, short haul, etc., like anything else.

I, the retired trucker, opted not to stay home and work a factory job, construction or farm work, but still wanted to make as high a wage as possible for my time. Over-the-road trucking paid better than my options with no college education. So be it!

Back to 1996, and a long story short, Social Security Disability isn't a desirable income either. It's enough for my wife and I to keep the bank from getting our modest house we worked hard for, but not much extra between my check and her local factory job paycheck.

Upon getting my first SSI check, retrospectively 18 months after a 15 ft. fall onto the concrete floor in my truck shop, and shattering both of my heels, I had thought's about making money from home with a computer.

Seems everyone was out buying their first computer back then. It took a while to figure out how to use it but I had lot's of time as walking more than 5 or 10 minutes at a time was too painful,

At first the Dr.'s said I'd never walk again. With one year laying on my back w/feet elevated, 2 years in a wheel chair, 19 screws holding my heels together and 100% arthritis in both ankles, I kinda believed them. By years 7 & 8, post surgery, I could walk a couple hours intermittently, though still painful even with special orthopedic shoes.

After almost 25 years, 15 as an owner/operator, and well over 2 1/2 million miles of making it home, most of the time safely, lots of "close calls", I get permanently busted up in my own back yard. I know it sounds like I'm ranting here but this all lead up to where I'm at today with my 10th PC/laptop. (lol)

So, I bought my first PC and set out on my money making journey. I can't tell you how many times I would have traded my computer for a truck. I didn't think I'd ever make a buck with it, but I was determined to figure it out. With all the experts online, I'll get their help and make me a bunch of money. I thought.

After several years, umpteen programs, making some money and spending even more, I decided every GURU, aka, "work at home teacher", under the sun won't get another penny out of me. So, up till 2013, when I found Wealthy Affiliate, I read a lot of reviews and learned how to spot a scam a mile away.

Sadly, you don't have to go that far to spot a scam. Most internet money making opportunities are a scam in one form or another. Knowing what to look for and asking the right questions can save you a lot of aggravation, time and money.

Absolutely without a doubt, Wealthy Affiliate is the REAL thing. I had no idea of what a REAL, HONEST, DOWN TO EARTH online business consisted of before finding Wealthy Affiliate. After all these years, I'm finally on the right track and full of confidence once again.

My wife of 36 years and I both would like to thank the whole Wealthy Affiliate Community for sharing your knowledge, successes and failures that inspired and helped put us on the right road with our online success journey. It sure feels good to be home. Home Sweet Home!

If you have it, a truck brought it!

Best Wishes,

Randy & Lori Brooks

Hello Randy I hope you and Lori are doing good. Interesting journey that you have been on. We both ended up on the computer before a lot of the things on the Internet were not around.
LOL I have driven a lot of different trucks before but I know I have never driven a set of drums before like in your old profile pic.
Anyway nice to meet you here and I look forward to talking with you more.

It's a sad indictment that we all seem to have to go that route before we realise where we are best off.

I'm just beginning to understand something I heard, years ago. "The purpose of life is to go full circle and come back to the beginning to see if afresh for the very first time."

I can relate to that. Every now and again I stop and think about what its all about anyway, shake it off and keep moving forward. After a couple million miles trucking around the country you're focused on whats in front of you. You can't change whats in the mirror.

Have a good one,

Randy B

Hello Randy,♫Welcome! Nice to meet you ツ I wish you a lot of learning pleasure and fun on WA. Thank you for following me.

From the start, I have written training for every issue I had problems with myself. I also made a list of 1001 niche ideas, a checklist with 25 points to go through before you publish a post, 101 blogging ideas when you get stuck and an A-Z WA dictionary. I just love lists:) It has been very helpful to a lot of people. I have listed them in one blog you can find on my profile. It's the first website link on the right (click on my picture to get there). I hope to help you with those.

If you have any questions, please add a comment to this message or leave them on my profile.
Success building your business in 2016-2017. See you around, Greetings Loes

Hi again, Randy!! Wow, I am really impressed with your ability to get right back up and get yourself going again. You and I have 3 things in common: I play keyboards and have played professionally for over 35 years, I am permanently disabled from a chronic illness with chronic pain everyday and my wonderful husband is a long haul truck driver. I love what you said about your wife and I can tell you love her very much. Keep up the good work, Randy, you are a very special person.

Hi Wendy. Thanks for the kind words. I think we have 4 things in common. All of the above and the fact that we both want to better ourselves financially, and I believe WA is the right place to make it happen.

I hope, eventually, your husband can park the truck for good or get into a position that will allow him to run when he wants to or if he wants to. That would be a big stress reliever for you both. The highway can be the hardway, but I do miss it at times.

Do you have any of your music on the web? If so, send me a PM. I'd like to hear it. You never know where playing music can take you next. I've passed up some good opportunities for one reason or another over the years. Take care of yourself and lets stay in touch.

Thanks for writing back, Randy. Yes, I hope my husband can get into a position that will allow him to be home more often. we are raising our granddaughters, have had them for 11 years and adopted them 11 years ago. They were 1 year and 4 years old when we got them and now they are 12 and 16 and I know they sure miss their Papa!! If I can figure out how to put my music on the pm, I will most definitely send some of my songs to you. I would like to hear some of yours also. It has been about 2 weeks since I have sat down at my piano so I really need to do that that. Have a great weekend!!

nice to meet you I am from Corpus Christi Tex and one hundred percent all cowboy I was totally enthralled with your story you must have a will of iron to go through that kind of pain and still be able to do the things you love . on a side note love the hat all the best

Hello David, Nice to meet you too.Yeah, it was a very painful experience. I think the toughest part was mentally challenging when I had to lay on my back for a whole year with my feet above heart level at all times. Crazy things run through your mind I'd rather not mention.

The very last load I hauled emptied out in Corpus Christi back in Feb.1996. Eight months later is when life changed forever. Life is what you make it though. I never was one to sit idle for too long. Thats what I love about WA, theres plenty here to learn and do to stay occupied well into the night.

I'm sure you'll reach your goals with WA. The short time I've been here, it's got me motivated like never before. Well, better git back at er. I'm following you and if I can help, just holler.

All the best to you,

Randy B

Hello Emma. Sorry for replying so late. Been very busy setting up my site and wa training. I am impressed with your profile. I've been told to write a book. I gave it some thought but thats as far as I get with it. WA has me motivated again so maybe down the road you can share some book writing skills to get me started. That would be nice. Oh, you sure take a beautiful picture. Just had to let you know that.

I wish you the best,

Hello Cindi Lu. Nice to meet you. Maybe I'll make WA my niche. Seems like I could never run out of things to say about it that would keep people coming back to my site. We'll see. Maybe I should write that book many have told me to write. Maybe you could get me started with how to write a book. I've given it a thought but stop short of where to start. I enjoyed your blog and will try to keep up with as we go.

Warm regard's,

Randy

Thanks for replying Cindi Lu. I must say, my life has been a journey full of twists and turns up to this point. I've been told many times over the years to write a book. Maybe now is the time while going through the WA courses I can write a little as I go. Any info or simple guidelines to get started would be much appreciated.

howdy, well i can tell you its a big life, we know it. what i do is i pick a point in time that connects with a lesson learned or a theory i want to share to enlighten someone with or offer pearls of wisdom to. i don't think writing a running from beginning to end of life has as much impact as sectioning it out because after all the most important reason that we write is that we want to share something interesting, something true because people helping people is the root of your desire. keep it simple, write like you talk and don't ever think your finished with the first draft. always, i really mean always, save, sleep on it and reread. i guarantee you will want to make changes to enhance the process. you may also want to think about starting with an outline. it all depends, sometimes the outline works, sometimes the story has a spirit of its own and it is going to shape itself. choose a point in time and just start writing, don't worry that it is going to be the story you will use. just start writing and rereading, this practice helps your brain to start exercising in that direction. after a while, you will just come to know what you want to say. remember, when rereading, say to yourself, is this want i want to say, very important my friend. think on these things for now, and watch to see what develops. hope this helps for now, have a sweet night my friend :))

Thanks for the follow! Looking at your picture and reading your profile, it appears you're a little older, just like me. I have to ask - have you written anything? If you have, why haven't you shared it with us? If you look to the top right corner of this page, next to the blue tab that shows your rank, you'll see a little white pen with a down arrow under it. Click on the down arrow, then click on create a blog, and start writing! Don't forget to click on Publish once you're done writing. I'm following you, and I'd love to read some of your writing. Feel free to Private Message me if you need any help. Good luck to you!
