You Know More Than You Think!
I thought I would create a quick video about all the things that we have learnt at Wealthy Affiliate and other places. I listen to a lot of training videos, regarding Internet marketing and YouTube training, it is something that I find really fascinating and interesting. I think we often have more knowledge than we actually realise, but are we making the most of our knowledge?
The reason I say this is recently I was listening to a webinar, which was good and everything the lady said was right. However, the fact is, I didn't learn anything new and in fact when there was a question and answers session at the end, I actually felt that I had more knowledge on the subject than what the host had! Now don't say that to boast, but it is just a fact and a question that I have, are we utilising all that knowledge, maybe we have lots of hidden gems, that can be used to create something fantastic.
Anyway, have a look at the video, let me know what you think and have you got something that you could give away and earn from?
Thank you for watching.

Hey Roy,
What a great story, and I fully agree that we usually know more than we realize. The biggest problem for most people, and myself included, is that I don't always apply what I have learned straight away.
I get distracted easily and I tend to focus a lot more on learning all the time as it is one of my passions. However, I often take long before I actually start applying the knowledge into action.
I hope you're having an interesting and nice weekend so far!
Hello Hein,
Thank you! I think this is what many of us are guilty of, Hein, we know a lot of things, but we don't particularly implement, what we know.
I can relate to that, I think it's really easy to get distracted when we are working online, hence, why try and use the timer, it just helps to make me realise that time is ticking by. I think many of us are guilty of not applying our knowledge into action.
I appreciate you taking the time to comment.
I have been out all day, as, I spent the whole day in London with a friend, it was a good day!
All the best.
Roy
Hey Roy,
Ok, great. You had a nice day with a friend and what I hope was nice weather. How do you overcome distractions and procrastination?
Good morning Hein,
It was a good day, thank you, Hein, with a good friend! It's something that we do several times a year, I value good quality friends, who are on the same wavelength!
Maybe I need to do a blog post on the subject of distractions, as I think it's something that we all, or certainly most of us, suffer from, including myself. I think working online, automatically, opens us up to distractions, as there is so much to potentially distract us.
I will just put a couple of quick thoughts here. I think the first one is to make sure that we have a plan, or job list, so we know immediately where we are going, as soon as we get started in the morning, as we all need direction.
Secondly, it's very easy for us to work seven days a week, which isn't good, as most of us work from home. I believe that we can achieve more in five or six days, than we can in seven days. It's important to get enough rest and have a change of scenery.
For some reason, Saturdays have always been my least productive day, but Sunday is my normal day off. I don't know if it's because we have been working for five days solid and really need a break, or is it the fact that other people are enjoying themselves and we are working? When I was working outside, I think one of the reasons Saturday's was an unproductive day, was because people were often at home, which can then cause distractions, etc and you kind of lose that drive to keep pushing forward.
I could talk about the subject the longer, but I don't want to write an essay type comment!!
Have a fantastic day.
Roy
Hey Roy,
Thank you for your valuable tips. I hope you had a great weekend in general.
I think I need to create a daily task list for myself, and religiously stick to that. The problem is, I have a To-Do list, but I don't open the notepad document to check it. ๐
We usually work over weekends, but take the afternoons off, but I always work until evening. We usually take Fridays off to go shopping while most people are working and the shops are not too overcrowded. However, you will be surprised how many housewives and men are still shopping during weekdays. It is just too chaotic on weekends so we never shop then.
I am very strict while working at home, my wife can't disturb me unless it is absolutely needed. And her daughter isn't allowed to come to us during daytime. She may only come between 16h00 and 19h00, after that it is our personal time together. I will explain more about our situation via PM or email so you can get the full picture.
Thank you, and have a fantastic day as well.
Good morning Hein,
It's a pleasure! The weekend was good, thank you.
It's funny you say that, Hein, I often do the same thing! I create a to-do list in a Word document and have it saved on my computer, I kind of remember what's on there, but I should check it more, as I know I missed things. I also have some tasks on my Google calendar, which is useful.
It makes sense, to do what you do, regarding shopping and work, Hein, I can relate to what you are doing. I really go shopping, as I have everything delivered to the door, which is good for several reasons. Living in a village, which I like, means that we don't have any large shops nearby, so I have to drive, which takes time and cost money! Plus, I'm not a lover of retail therapy, so, online shopping works well for me. You could say that it's man's best friend!
I'm intending to move to Greece soon, so I don't think they have online shopping like we do, so I will have to get used to some changes.
Hein, I'm with you 100%, on your last paragraph, I think this is important, because distractions cost money. I think I may have mentioned this before, but the boffins reckon it takes about 20 minutes to get back to the normal work routine, after a distraction! If I get disturbed too many times, I just lose that edge and don't feel like working any more, which is really bad.
One of the reasons why I get up early is so that I can achieve as much as possible in the morning, without any disturbances. My wife used to wonder why I became annoyed when I was continually being distracted with continual unnecessary tasks, it's not clever, or good! So I really do understand, exactly where you are coming from!
Have a fantastic day.
Roy
Hey Roy,
I just want a system or app that could help me focus more. If you find a great one (not just good), please make a video about that.
I love living in a village or very small town, but the only disadvantage is the technology including the delivery services... well, in some places.
I don't know what is attracting you to Greece so much besides the olives and Greek salads, but I am sure you will tell me.
You mean the boffins mean it takes around 20 minutes to get into a flow state. This is the ultimate state of focus we must strive to. I also get up early, because I am usually most productive then.
Hello Hein,
In the past, but not recently, I have looked at these apps and software that you can have on your PC, but I have abandoned them, as I felt like I was wasting time, just trying to use them. Maybe that's my fault, but I'm not sure, so I haven't really found anything yet.
Here in the UK, although it's a village, the delivery services are good. If I actually wanted to, I could not leave my house at all and easily survive! I don't think the dog be very happy, as he enjoys his walks! I know that's not a normal thing to do, and I have no intention of doing it, but it would be possible. The good thing is that it's not costing me any time in travel expenses or loss of time, when I could have been working.
I think, just the Greek salads alone, are enough to attract anyone to Greece!! There are several reasons, Hein, but when I was married to my Greek wife, the intention was to end up in Greece full-time, I would still like to do that, as I very much like the Greek people and the Greek way of life, and the weather! I don't really have much family left now, so, it's good to be somewhere where you can enjoy yourself and enjoy the Greek hospitality, and more!
What I actually meant, Hein, if we are working and someone interrupts us and distracts us from our flow, it can take around 20 minutes to get back to that flow again. Which I can really relate to. Also, if I don't get an early start, which is unusual, I struggle to get motivated, which is not clever. I'm not quite sure why, I guess it's just how I work.
Enjoy your day.
Roy
Well, that sounds auspicious to say the least. I would love to go to Greece, if only for a week. Just be careful of the so-called Greek mythology, it might just be true. ๐
Ok, if and when you find some really effective apps for productivity, please do share.
Have a great day.
Thank you for your reply, Hein.
It's quite annoying when you're trying to be productive, but it takes you a long time to work out how productivity software works! I did have something on my computer, it was free, I can't remember if I tried the paid version, that would let me know when I wasn't so focused, which wasn't a bad thing, but there were some very annoying things, as I ended up removing it!
I don't know how far you would be from Greece, Hein, I can definitely recommend it. Northern Greece is around 2 1/2 to 3 hours, depending on the wind direction, etc, so it's not far from the UK, or at least by plane, it's not.
I can feel a productivity video coming on!๐
Have a great day.
Roy
"more under our belt". Roy, I have to admit that I ate more than I should have during my birthday, but I'll get it under control soon. ;-)
Mel
My apologies, Mel, I meant to wish you a happy birthday, but it's been one of those weeks!
I hope you had a good birthday and were able to do something different.
At least, it sounds like you were enjoying yourself, Mel.
Thank you for commenting on looking at the video, I appreciate it.
Have a great weekend.
Roy
Thank you, Mel!
Incidentally, I know that you have been busy pushing forward, I hope that things are making progress. Will you be doing Kyle's Boot Camp, which starts this coming week?
All the best.
Roy
That's good to hear, Mel, I thought you probably would.
I hope that your weekend is going well.
Roy
Thank you for taking the time to reply, Myra, it's appreciated.
I'm glad you enjoyed the information.
Have a great weekend.

Good insight @Roy. Its worth taking pause to reflect on what we have learned along the way! That said - when I am in this position I look at the way the presented markets themselves and their knowledge - they clearly have that right! So your time was not lost.
Thank you, Mark, I appreciate you take the time to comment.
That's true, sometimes really do need to pause and think about what we have learned. I have to admire this lady, as she has really made it happen and put her knowledge to good use! It's also quite a good eye-opener that made me think, in fact, it made me think a lot!
Enjoy your weekend.
Roy
Excellent - its a great lesson & you should be able to do way more with your talents!
Thank you, Mark, I appreciate you taking the time to comment.
It kind of made me think, that many of us on this platform, probably have more talents than we are aware of! So it's time to put them to good use, I believe!
Have a great week.
Roy
