Got my one year badge just now!
I knew it was coming up pretty soon. So, what have I accomplished in a year? Two websites. 211,000 words, 125 articles published. Haven't made any money yet, but not for lack of trying.
What's great is, I have a writing portfolio now, so I have a marketable skill as a freelance writer. That's a really good thing.
Right now, to be honest with you, my feelings are mixed about Wealthy Affiliate. I have really worked hard at this, and I just wish I could see some monetary gain.
I'm in for the long haul. I went yearly just before the black Friday deal was announced, then paid for another year to take advantage of the deal. So we will see what the next 2 years brings.

Wow!!! I have been here now for 4 days (as a newbie) and feel a bit disheartened and disgusted over your challenge in making money. In my humble opinion I must comment on your situation, that you are still so optimistic and positive after giving it a year with no bucks to show for your vain effort. I am on a tight budget, and don't think that could satisfy me, and after my short stay I found out that customers of W/A are not making any money after 6 months.. After your stating that nothing is in your in your bank account after a year is enough to make me give up my challenge. OK. I have thought it over, and it really does not look good. Thanks for the help.... Steve

I have a philosophy that nothing is learned in vain. You may not need that knowledge right now or it may not be as profitable as you hoped but at some point, it will.
Hang in there. There is a LOT of money 'out there' to be made- it may as well go into your bank account as someone else!
