My first WA Impressions!

Hey all,

So I've officially been a member of WA for only 4+ days now, and I just thought I'd write a little post about my first impressions on our new "home away from home" - if you will, and get some writing practice in the process!

Just like most of us, I was sceptical about investing my money in something when what I really want to do is make money. I know we all have our own reasons for wanting to take control of our own life, ditch the 9 - 5, etc., so I thought I'd share mine. I kind of touched on it in my profile description, but I'll elaborate a bit. I'm a young guy, 24 (turning 25 in May!).

In 2012 I successfully completed college where I graduated with Honours and like all of us, was eager to get out into the real world and show 'em what I was made of. Sadly, that wasn't the case. After graduating, my first job was a 3 month contract Data Entry position at an Insurance firm, wasn't the best but at the same time, there's a lot worse! I ended up becoming really good friends with my project's team leader, we still keep in touch today!

After that, I was back home looking for work, and after a few interviews (some more interesting than others) I found myself back where I started, feeling a lot more discouraged than before. My best friend told me his job had an opening, which I was interested in. Again this wasn't much of what we call a career job but hey, it helped with the little bit of bills I had. It was a warehouse job, general labour - picking orders, packing, shipping, all of the above. I wasn't interested much in the position obviously, but like I said, it was at least something. Before I could blink, it was almost a year that I was at this job. The daily job was not fun at all, but the people I worked with made it bearable. It was at that moment I realized I wanted to create my own business.

Eager to get it up and running, I made the rookie move of quitting before having something to rely on. I did my research and found out what I wanted to do at the time, but I didn't plan it properly; and wound up back where I started a year earlier - jobless, with no type of income, and discouraged... VERY discouraged. I gave up on trying to get my business started as I couldn't get in touch with anyone who was willing to help without charging me an arm and a leg (which was all I had to offer at the time). So I started my job hunt again, but I couldn't shake the nagging feeling that I really wanted to do my own thing - who wouldn't? No boss, your own hours, unlimited income. The best thing for me was, the harder I work, the more I'll make! Not many people can say that about their job, even if you're currently making 6 figures!

Then I landed a job at a retail store strictly selling electronics and all things to do with them. For those of you living in Canada, you know all about Future Shop; for those of you in America, think BestBuy - for Canadians (BestBuy owns Future Shop). I got the job in August of 2014, and I told myself, this is it! I'm going to love it here! I love technology and learning about the latest and greatest, so what could be better than working in a place that sold just that?! And I stick by that, the environment in there was phenomenal! Everyone cared about each other and was super encouraging...

Then life hit me, I won't go into details but I was born with some major heart issues, which have gradually gotten worse as I've gotten older, and the stress from all these endeavours was killing me, literally. I ended up in emergency twice in under two months, both times the doctors said everything looked normal and they couldn't explain it; this of course added to my stress.

Jumping ahead, I left Future Shop and here I am now. And for the first time in my life (even though I'm not making money just yet) I feel like I have control. Thanks to everyone here at WA, I feel like I finally have somewhere that I belong. I don't just mean that based on the creators of this awesome program, I mean that based on everyone else who's also signed up and is learning (the same way I am). The feedback, positivity, and encouragement alone are worth my monthly subscription. My experience here in just 4+ days has already been life changing in what I've accomplished and what I've learned. Not to mention the amazing contacts I've already made in just 4 days!!! That's what's really amazing me right now.

Just today I was stuck on how to develop my Niche and start writing quality content, so I thought what the heck, let me post a question and call it a night and read what people say tomorrow. I said that because I thought, this program is already so big and its constantly growing, no one is gonna see my question any time soon, right? Wrong! Just a couple hours after I posted, I had a full page-long discussion from numerous people offering tips and ideas on what I should look into in order to help me take that first step and I thought to myself, wow this is incredible! Just a couple hours ago I was completely clueless, now I know what direction I'm heading in and I'm still up right now writing this blog sharing what I feel about WA. I really feel welcome here and can't stress enough how much it means to be in a community like this!

Thanks again to all who've helped me thus far, I look forward to developing some in depth business relationships with all of you and learning from each other. I hope to share my own personal success story with you all soon!

Cheers!
